Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here

Another weird question from me: when having one save with multiple managers, can you concentrate on one and vacation and have your assistant take control on others? Ie I want to have a save where I manage Shakthar Donetsk, but only really want to focus on them around the Champions League, not the Ukranian league; concurrently, I'd like to focus completely on another team

Mainly I want to do this to consolidate some saves for 14, and have the same competitions throughout (ie Champions League, World Cup)

EDIT: I tried it out tonight, and it indeed works. Good news! 14 can't get here fast enough now

so did i mess up by having a release clause on my guy's contract? I'm trying to get rid of him.

At least i think that's what it was. Ill check later for sure.

What's the release clause? Minimum fee? Relegation release clause?

How's MLS this year? Still tons of unrealistic cuts and general disregard of draft picks?

Any alternate North American/USA league structure databases?

I haven't played an MLS save yet, but I have started one with the USMNT. From what I can see early on, there are still issues with good players being put in reserves and not playing. Worse, there are many up and coming young players (like DeAndre Yedlin, Luis Gil and others) who are being loaned to NASL clubs, so they aren't even playing in MLS and presumably aren't developing either.

I'd check the official forums as there seems to be a good selection of US databases already, but I haven't tried them yet.

Player A has a minimum release clause fee of $1m. Team B bids $1m and it is automatically accepted, the club cannot do anything.

Player A has a relegation release clause fee of $1m. His team gets relegated. Team B bids $1m and it is automatically accepted, the club cannot do anything.

Player A's team does not get relegated. Team B bids $1m and Player A's team can choose to reject it as they have not been relegated so the clause is not activated.

Hope that clears it up. Minimum release clause fee's are quite common in the lower leagues but can be seen in the main European leagues, so keep an eye on them as if it's low and you want the player, bid his minimum release clause fee.

Wow, never thought to check their current contract for more than it's expiration date

Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here

Fired my FM13 save back up managing QPR, and after 10 games of year 2 Liverpool fired their manager and offered me the job. So I accepted. Prior to me becoming manager, Raheem Sterling wasn't happy and wanted out. I've taken Liverpool from 10th to 4th, with 8 games remaining. Sterling has played a lot and done really well and his contract has only 3 months remaining. I went to offer a new contract and his agent said he won't be opening contract discussions and will be leaving at the end of his contract.

Is their anything I can do to get them to negotiate? Sterling is happy, scoring, and playing really well.

Since he was p*ssed at the previous boss, this stinks.

I don't think there is anything you can do. If you let a player get inside 6 months remaining on his contract (and I know it was the previous manager, not you), and he decides he wants to leave on a free at the end of the season, he won't negotiate a new contract. He also won't negotiate a new contract if he is transfer listed, so make sure he's not listed.

He asked to be removed from the transfer list, but by the time I took over I was already inside 6 months.

Did this get changed in FM14?

Since 14 was 50% off I took the plunge.

I usually start unemployed, and when you hit continue to advance, is there some way to only go 1 day at a time?

Reason for asking, Portsmouth was getting unhappy with their manager so I expressed interest in the job. When they fired him, the game didn't stop. By the time it did I saw the email showing he was canned and than another showing they hired a new manager.

Should the game have stopped, since I expressed interest, or did it go on because the Portsmouth owner wasn't interested in talking to me?

That's weird that he asked to be removed from the list but then refused to open negotiations. Must have been a bug in FM 13. In FM 14 I still see players refuse to negotiate inside 6 months, but I also resigned Fabianski inside 6 months after being unable to successfully sell him in January, then sold him during the Summer. Flamini had expressed disappointment at being on the transfer list and wished to stay, I would guess things have been fixed.

As for your Portsmouth problem, if you to advance one day at a time you can holiday for one day. Otherwise you have to hit the "browse" button to stop the game from continuing to simulating. I'm assuming FM didn't stop simulating because Pompey had no interest in interviewing or hiring you, but it's been my experience in FM 14 that if a team isn't interested in considering your for a job they will laugh off or dismiss your interest in the press.

How do you guys handle winter breaks? I've got Ajax rolling, with good depth being built and everyone healthy. I use one of the training methods used over in the SI forums that focuses preseason on fitness, team cohesion, tactics and easy matches to have good morale and fluid tactics. Should I rest the team over Christmas for a week and then resume this plan for the next three weeks after that before my next game? Does resting a team for that long have positive or negative impact?
