You need to offer them a new contract before you get relegated back down. I had that same situation happen to me before. And I lost two key players because of it. So try and get them new contracts now before it happens without that clause.

Got some confusion on Youth Academy.

Is anyone that's NOT on the senior squad considered in the 'youth academy'?

Also, how do you get new players for your YA? Like, is the only way by scouting/pulling from other teams? How do I find 'kids' to sign up? (hope that makes sense)

Your head of youth development pulls in new kids once a year. Usually around March. You will get emails about him bringing in new kids. And they will play a game against your current u18 squad. Then you can sign the new ones or leave it up to the HoYD to sign who he sees fit. Which usually means everyone.

In other words, very important to have a superb HoYD? Nothing WE can do to influence what type of players he brings in, other than try to get a HoYD with the best attributes, as we see it?

Good grief this game is on a whole 'nother level.

I don't think there is anything the player can do to influence it. Its pretty much just luck. And the better the HoYD is the better chance you have of getting better players.

You can also, if you are fast and remember every year (and a good club, not a lower league team) can poach kids from some of the bigger/better teams with youth systems. But you have to be on top of that. I tried it once, and it was too much of a hassle so I don't do it myself.

There is also a board request where you can ask the board to increase your Youth Recruitment Network, or something along those lines.

There is youth recruitment, which widens your range for potential prospects, and youth coaching which improves the quality of the players coming through the youth academy.

I know this will differ for everyone, but how many scouts do you employ?

When taking over at Arsenal, I believe they have 15 and it seems a bit overwhelming to me. Also do you generally set up their assignments or do you let your staff handle it?

I believe Dortmund have 8, which is more Mt speed lol.

also if you get an affiliate club from abroad, with the 'first option to sign' ability - you will find you will sometimes get players from that country in your youth intake

PL and Serie A teams always seem to have tons of scouts, I generally try to have a few domestic scouts to search the league, and the youth leagues and next opposition, then scouts for all the regions to scout in that area.

This generally means I have between 8-10 scouts at most. I dont like having too many more as I feel I dont need them, and normally the good scouts cost a lot in wages

I sign the maximum and let the chief scout set the assignments. If I'm at a big club, I will manually set one scout to do the whole world to build up knowledge of the different regions.

Is it possible to DL accurate fixture schedules for (all?) leagues?

Also, can you incorporate accurate Champions League groups as well--say, if you were to start the season at the open of the UCL Rd. 1? Or is this not something that can accurately be replicated?

                            TIA.

No, but for most leagues every team plays each other twice. So it's really not that important to have the real schedule.

I don't believe you can do accurate CL groups either.

i believe some of the fixture lists are correct for the first year, but i dont know which leagues they are as i dont really look at that in much detail.

you cant do CL groups, as the groups arent drawn at the beginning of the season, and qualifiers for the groups havent been played yet
