This is shaping up to be really, really ****ty.

Sad but possibly true point on Arseblog news:

Also, RVP's statement was apparently crafted by lawyers and his agent.

    Happy Wednesday.
Just don't sell him to City. That's all I ask.

What a dick move. Of course, it doesn't surprise me that Arsenal management let it get to this point.

Another horrendous day for the Club which seems to becoming the norm. 2003 seems like a long time ago.

What is sad is that this is still a product of how absurd we handled things last Summer.

You would hope we learned out lesson by now. We'll see.

Also, I hope we just sell him as quick as possible and move on. By move on, I mean use the money to sign players, but we can't let this drag out. He doesn't want to be here and he's made it known in a rather disrespectful and underhanded manner, so, get him and his agent as far away from this club as possible.

It looks obvious to me now that RVP was only going to stay if we started spending like City. What could management really do if he won't extend his contract?

It was a real punk move on his part and he is well on his way to Nasri territory with me.

As much as this saddens me as an Arsenal fan, Im not really in total and utter shock by this. Other teams are willing to pay him much more than what we are giving him; and they also have a better chance at winning now than we do. Any player will be hard pressed with a decision like this; IMO, he made a really difficult choice to try and get trophies now and leave the club that he loves (and I do believe that he loves clubs and us fans).

Now, with this all going to down, what do we do with our strikers that were almost certain to leave (Chamakh and Bendtner)? do we keep one or both of them? or sell RVP and them two and replace with a better quality striker?

I'm not surprised that he doesn't want to resign.

I'm surprised at how he chose to handle the situation and how he chose to treat the club.

I can't help but think about Clichy each and every time a player leaves our club. Quietly and respectfully chose to leave, and didn't use the media as a bargaining tool.

I'm not sure about that. I don't think he expected Arsenal to spend millions upon millions on their bench. I think he expected them to at least make a competitive wage offer for him and move away from their philosophy of maximizing transfer value out of players like himself and continuously "building for the future". Letting their best players go last season had a ton to do with this too. That's all they've done since he's been there. Of course, we'll never know what the conversation was, but I don't think he's naive enough to think they could ever keep up with Man City-level transfer spending. I don't think it's out of the question for him to ask management to spend money on wages to keep players that will win them trophies.

Now, whether it was him or his handlers' suggestion to handle it in the way he did, he completely and utterly screwed the club over. You can't say you love the club and fans and then turn around and use the media like this. If he truly meant that, he would have stopped this statement from going out. Completely two-faced if you ask me.

If he's sold before the start of the season, then I'll feel the club did the best they could with the crap they were given.

If he's still on the website on August 18th, we haven't learned a thing.

How the **** do they allow Clichy, Cesc, Nasri, and RVP to leave in what 2 summers? That's garbage from what is supposedly a big club

                        You're kidding, right?

He released a statement on his own website, basically stating he wants to leave the club now. All this done without the knowledge of the club. Completely blindsided. The only reason he has not spoken about it until today is the club banned him from speaking to the media about his future at the club while at Euro 2012.

I don't know how anyone can think that is not handling it wrong.

He's not wrong for wanting to leave. It's amazing he stayed this long. However, it's a pretty ****ty way to go out. To force a deal, by announcing your intentions on your website instead of actually talking to those who have been paying your salary and sticking by you through your injury issues.

His decision to leave does not cast negatively upon him, but the manner in which he's chosen to do so does.

I don't see this as a discussion as why he wants to leave, as we all know why he wants to leave and why those before him wanted to leave. It's a discussion about how he's gone about it.

I think most of us expected him to go. But I also think most of us expected the club to announce it, after he held talks with them privately, did the transfer business and moved on. That isn't too much to expect. He's leaving, and that is fine, but he's kicking us in the balls on the way out the door.

We aren't a big club at least to the players. That much is blatantly obvious.

                            Are you with Arsenal management?

The moment that Arsenal lost the BPL and CL this season, the flag was on that RVP was going to leave.
Almost everyone could see it, which was I posted earlier that Wenger should sell him rather than have a Fabregas/Nasri controversy.

In all respect, RVP had earlier told Wenger and that's why Wenger went out and bought Poldoski/Giroud as replacement strikers.

Arsenal pretty much brought this whole issue with top players leaving on themselves, by not giving competitive wages and not paying for top players.

                            Look at Nasri and Fabregas.
Leave Arsenal and start taking in the trophies.
Arsenal and Wenger have no one to blame but themselves.

There are several reports stating the club had no idea he was doing this, and that they were blindsided by it. It was between him, his agent and lawyers. If the club knew, I have a feeling they would've said something by now or at least now allowed him to announce it in this manner. Why? Well, it only lowers what we can ask for him. It's not that hard to figure out the club are not happy at how this is playing out.

I'm not with Arsenal management, but one doesn't need to be to understand this. Or just read what is being written by reputable sources.

Also, since it appears that I need to repeat myself, nobody is surprised that he wants to leave.

The way he's chosen to handle the situation is the surprising part, not the actual fact he's upset with the direction of the club. We're all upset with the direction of the club.

not to sound like a know it all or anything but how is this shocking? i did think he was going to stay another year or two but in the short term i think it was fairly obvious that he was going. we have no idea what rvp and arsenal have been saying in the clubhouse, but im sure it was coming to this.
