Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
You did, and you didn’t. There was quite a bit to see in terms of how embarrassing we played, and a substitution of Martinelli for Pepe with thirteen minutes left, which I will gladly argue was incredible stupid.
But you missed nothing worth actually watching.Comment

I'll forever be pissed at Emery for leaving Torreira on the bench so often, and playing him out of position. Before he came to us he had near Kante level of stats, and more so than the stats you could see the work he would do on the field.
Emery wanted Nzonzi, not Torreira—that says plenty to me about the way he wanted to move forward. He didn't want a young, hungry player, but instead to stay in his comfort zone and manage us like a mid to upper table side who might get lucky every now and then and pick off a big team.

As for the Wenger comparison, I thought of something yesterday while watching the match that I couldn't help but think about.
What would this squad look like under Arsene Wenger?
But I had to then stop myself right there because we wouldn't have this squad under Arsene Wenger. Without Arsene leaving, I don't think we would've brought in some of the players we have or moved out some of those we have. We're a different club with a different squad now because we started the process of moving on from Arsene.
Would I rather watch our current squad be managed by Arsene? Yes, but we wouldn't have that squad if he was still in charge, so I still 100% support us moving on from that era—I'm just ready for the Emery era to end.Comment

Was Gazidis the (only) one who wanted Emery?
Curious as to who all was “on board” with this hire? Seeing Milan floundering now, I am all in on removing anything and anyone associated with that clown. If Emery was HIS choice, all the more reason to pack his bags.

Heck, I was excited about the hiring of Emery, but I feel like we've seen enough to know that things are not going to improve—they're just getting worse. We've regressed from this point last season, with a better squad.
Also, Edu had no saying in the hiring of Emery and he now has a very large say, so it'll be interesting to see what direction we go in next when that inevitably happens.
Emery is on a two-year contract with a club option for a third—as of now, there's no way that option is exercised. Ideally, we end it before then (it'll only cost £6m apparently), and try something different. What? I'm not sure, let me have some more coffee.Last edited by Krebstar; 10-22-2019, 10:12 AM.Comment

The only way I’m going to see Arsenal success for the near future is when I take them over in FM.
I still believe the best midfield would be Torreira/Guendouzi, and either your choice of Willock, Ceballos, and Ozil.
LOL at Luiz and Sokratis.
If you take off anyone up top, it should have been Lacazette on for Saka.
Some of Emery’s choices have been absolutely baffling.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Right? Like, does he watch how we play when he starts Bellerin, Holding, Tierney, etc? I mean it’s brilliant..
Does he remember those passages of play last year V Leicester?
All of our previously injured players have had first team minutes recently, and two weeks off for the international break. There is simply no excuse in that team that was put out there yesterday.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
There's too many variables at play for me to be mad at the Bellerin/Tierney/Holding stuff. I completely understand playing them in a lower pressure game on Thursday, and easing them back. Club has invested a lot of money, and catastrophic leg injuries(Holding, Bellerin) and reoccurring issues(Tierney) are not injuries I'm interested in risking further complications. Most timetables I saw at the outset had recovery pegged for December for all three. That's when I'll start pounding that drum harder.
Personally, I'd give Emery until December. If there aren't marked improvements, I will be full EmeryOut. I'd love to get Allegri. When we got Emery I was excited because looking at his history, he had a structured system and he stuck with his principles, for whatever reason he seems to have abandoned them. Allegri and Upamecamo in January would be a nice boost. I'd also love to see his midfield trio of Ceballos, Guendouzi, and Torreira.
I'm not against Arteta, but I'm holding out hope that we can get a proven name for a bit before we move to Arteta. I wouldn't mind 5 years of Allegri or so, Arteta gets a smaller management job(Like Lampard at Derby) and we bring him in when Allegri leaves.Support Local Sports
