Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
There is a reason the following in America is largely LFC, Arsenal and United. Those teams have won recently so people jump on the fanbase.
I enjoy chatting with fans of all clubs but sadly the online community does not include a lot of Spurs fans unless you're on Twitter.Current careers:

Oh for ****s sake.
The gap in support from Americans for Arsenal and Spurs is not due to Arsenal winning "more recently" as they honestly haven't won recently other than the FA Cup victories, and the on-field product has not been incredibly entertaining for many, many years.
Arsenal, as a club, uses their history to market themselves very well, and their players are far more marketable in the states than Spurs' players. Harry Kane is a bumbling doofus—he's talented, but he's not nearly the star that someone such as Auba, Lacazette, or even Pepe can or will be.
Spurs' lack of history, yeah I said it, will continue to hurt their marketability. They won the first division twice overall, neither of those recently, but the overall lack of trophies is just as damaging to them as their lack of recent success.
Using Liverpool as an example is hilariously poor. They haven't won the league for nearly thirty years, and while they just won the Champions League, their last victory in that competition was in 2005. Please, tell me more about how they've won so much recently.
It's about their history, the same with Arsenal.
Spurs do not have as much history as the other clubs, and that is a much bigger factor than whatever they or other clubs have done recently.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I'm more than happy to discuss Arsenal in the Arsenal thread. Soooo...
One thing I was thinking about over the last few days is how infuriating it is to hear a large number of Arsenal supporters clamor for Emery to have a style, or implement something tangible that we can see and say "Hey! That's Arsenal, that's how we play."
Yet, when we insist on building from the back, which is meant to invite pressure, especially from teams who would normally sit deep such as Burnley, Emery is ridiculed for being obtuse and too rigid. He's attempting to build an identity and implement something but is then chastised for doing what supporters are clamoring for.
We're going to suck at it before we're really good at it, but we're not going to be good at it if we never try it. We have two players up front who need space in order to do damage, so we need to attempt to create that space.Comment

Not sure why Arsenal so adamant about building from the back at times. With the front three, should look to play a long ball or two to keep the opposing teams honest and give the midfield some breathing room.

Still waiting for the Ceballos/Torreira/Willock/Douzi (pick your 3) midfield.

Love those 4. I’m not sure what my ideal 3 would be. Torreria is most defensive, others very creative. I think, for me, Willock is odd man out if we don’t sign Ceballos long term..

Willock off the bench would be a nice option.

This is the dragon I'm chasing. The creativity involved offensively would amazing, and having Bellerin and Tierney joining the attack to provide width as Pepe/Auba slot inwards would be a dream. Ozil/Ceballos creating with Torreira breaking up the transition play when we lose the ball in embarrassing fashion is also something I'm here for.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
We did it a few times last year, one was against Leicester, I believe and the best was at Fulham, our goal of the season. Play it from the back, invite a press, play through it and you're on the break but you started with possession instead of having to win it back before going on the break.
I think far too often playing out from the back is seen as some kind of rigid philosophy based around retaining possession and refusing to play long balls. It's about inviting the now ubiquitous press which even teams such as Burnley will use, and negating it.Comment
