You only need to look as far as his agent. That’s why he was brought in initially.

That’s the club we are now, and it’s a damn shame. Every single week that goes by it seems more and more clear that we lost our way when we let Mislintat leave and Sanhelli take complete power.

From a statistical view (PPDA, passes per defensive action) Southampton pressed Norwich far more in their last match than City pressed us in our first match back.

My point: I do not want to see Guendouzi holding the ball in midfield for this match.

Numbers released today show we're still well behind other rich clubs in terms of payments made to intermediaries, but has seemingly made some supporters forget that the point has always been about our recruitment strategy related to intermediaries and agents, not necessarily funneling money to them.

Liverpool topped that list despite hardly making a transfer. It was basically all from contract extensions. Whatever all of us do, we are in the wrong business.

EDIT: Never mind, I thought it was for this season. There were definitely transfers in the time period of the report.

Arsenal XI vs. Southampton: Martinez; Bellerín, Mustafi, Holding, Tierney; Xhaka, Ceballos, Saka; Pepe, Nketiah, Aubameyang.

Arsenal subs: Macey, Sokratis, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Willock, Smith, Nelson, Özil, Lacazette.

No Gouendouzi, and Matty Smith getting spot on the bench!

            Xhaka starts—incredible.

Özil also on the bench, but don’t see him coming in vs a high pressing Southampton.

For the record, my point wasn't commentary on how other clubs are throwing money at agents and we're better than that. We need to do that if we want to compete—it's the game—being near the top of that list and successful isn't shameful.

The Arsenal perspective is that this made several groups of supports claim that those who are very weary of our agent connections are conspiracy nuts, and that this proves that we're fine.

But the reality is that our incredibly poor recruitment related to our agent ties is what is worrying. If you're bringing in great players who work out and you're paying lots in agent fees, oh well, that's how the system now works.

Arsenal are making questionable recruitment decisions which seem to be centered around friendly agent relationships, yet some supporters think because we're not paying much to intermediaries that there's no cause for concern.

Luiz and Cedric's contracts beg to differ.

Not able to watch but apparently Bellerin having a howler.

Maybe this is why Cedric signing was so “important”.

                    I trust our boss..

I must be seeing something different. He's been caught a few times needing to track back quickly, but he always has, and has helped shut down attacks.

Overall I'd say everyone is playing fine—nobody seems to be having a howler. Still looks like preseason football.

I take it back—Holding has been playing really well. Making good decisions, cutting out attacks, and clearing the ball away well.

Holding, Mari, and Saliba make me optimistic about the future of the center of our defense.

That was not pretty, but it was effective, and wow...three points and a clean sheet. As usual, our keeper had to make some fantastic saves to help us get the win. Thanks, Emi!

Apparently Holding was the bright spot?

I thought in the BHA match that everyone was “average”. Nobody really stood out as excellent or poor. Sounds like same today?

Also, a clean sheet away, with the goals coming from 20 and 21 year old academy products?

                              I’ll take it.

Yeah I didn’t take your post that way. I was just surprised to see LFC at the top when I thought it was for this past season.
