I think AMN’s casualness is a no go for Arteta. Just doesn’t see the hunger he wants to see, etc.Last edited by Krebstar; 01-23-2021, 09:47 AM.Comment

Would've loved to win, but hopefully we can make adjustments for the league match on Tuesday.
Still in the Europa League, so focus needs to be on that, also. We're also only six points out of fourth-place, although it'll take a miracle to move that high up.
Not surprising on a day that we start Willian and Pepe we struggled to create.Comment

It's finally officially official from all parties, Mesut Özil has left the Emirates and North London and is on his way to Fenerbache.
Time to trade Ö for ØSupport Local Sports

Could have used Ødegaard’s services yesterday against Southampton.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Last season Odegard had an xA90 of 0.24, which ranked 7th amongst players with 30+ appearances. Our best xA90 player was Pepe, at 0.22, 14th amongst players with 30+ appearances.
Both Odegaard and Pepe had 31 appearances, but while Pepe was our most creative player, he lost possession far more than Odegaard.
Pepe was dispossessed a total of 53 times, Odegaard 38. Pepe had 61 unsuccessful touches, Odegaard 54.Comment

Odegaard v Pepe Continued
As for key passes (a pass that leads directly to a shot on goal), Odegaard ranked 7th in 19/20 with 62. Pepe lead Arsenal with 40, Oil had 37.
Odegaard ranked 9th overall in successful dribbles, with 63, second most for Real Sociedad. Pepe lead Arsenal, and ranked 11th overall with 72.
What's the point of all this? Basically, comparing our statistically most creative player last season, Pepe, with Odegaard to see just how massive his presence could be in the squad.
One more comparison—corners—an area we can improve on in terms of delivering effective passes.
Odegaard ranked 9th overall in accurate corner kicks with 41. Pepe ranked 12th overall, and lead Arsenal in accurate corners with 33.

Oh, Willian
You might be wondering how Willian ranked instead of Pepe in his lats season at Chelsea, let's look.
Willian made 36 appearances for Chelsea in 19/20, and had an xA90 of .30, was dispossessed 30 times, had 62 unsuccessful touches, made 76 key passes, 65 successful dribbles, and delivered 48 accurate corners.
The problem is we have not seen that Willian at all, and I'd say that's one reason why we've brought in Odegaard. Willian has not lived up to the expectation of bringing creativity into the squad, which is surely one of the reasons he was brought in.
He's made 14 appearances, and ranks 51st in key passes with 18. If you include the first match of the season against Fulham, his xA90 is 0.27, ranking 6th amongst players with a minimum of 14 appearances. If you remove that Fulham match, it drops to 0.23 which is not terrible, but there's more.
If you compare Tierney's latest 13 appearances to Willian's 13 appearances after the Fulham match, Tierney's xA90 is 0.21, which is solid.
Also, in Willian's first 5 appearances, his xA90 was 0.26, ESR's was 0.30 and Ceballos at 0.32 is even better.
The point on Willian is that he's not providing the creativity we need, or expected. We desperately need Odegaard.

His inflated cost never helped him, and part of his inflated cost was due to Arsenal dragging their feet and not taking care of business earlier.Comment
