Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Looks like Silvestre will have to play CB tomorrow, as Sol has dodgy groin. The good news is that Arshavin and Denilson should return and Diaby has a good chance of returning as well.
I see something like this for this weekend
Arshavin----------------Bendtner-------------Rosicky
---------------Nasri-----Cesc-------Denilson-------
Clichy----------Silvestre---------TV5----------Sagna
----------------------Almunia----------------------"The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Reading the soccernet wrap up, and saw the Cesc was pulled from the game with an injury.
Serious or just a precautionary measure?Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I think we can win without him against Porto, and at this point, I think we have a more realistic chance to win the league than in Europe, so I'm all for saving him for next weekend.
On a plus note, Diaby and Arshavin both look to be back in full fitness, both had good games.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
They did have good games.
Walcott looked great, but it's hard to look bad when there's no one defending you.
Bendtner should have netted at least three goals, but his inability to finish wound up not mattering as we won anyway.
Our defense on the Burnley goal was shocking, and we can't expect to beat Porto if we defend like that.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
We won but I can't help but think that Bendtners lack of prowess in front of goal is going to come back and bite us big time before the years over. That clinic in not finishing overshadowed his game last year, I think it was against Blackburn, where he missed a crapload of chances.
I mean come on Nick, those are gimme goals."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Agreed....he needs to finish those chances FFS. Anyhow, I agree about the chances of winning the league vs. Europe. I'm not saying we can't win the CL, but the league is wide open. In spite of us not beating United or Chelsea, we are close to them
I hope the injury to Cesc isn't serious as he's crucial to any aspirations we have at this pointComment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Having Cesc out will be a blow, but I think Nasri has what it takes to fill in.
Do you start Eboue or Sagna at right back? Me, I start Sagna and sub in Eboue if you need the offense later on.Comment

YEEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like Bendtner recovered from the weekend nicely. Arshavin and Nasri were sick as well as Eboue. The 3rd and 4th goals were class.
I echo the sentiment that we can't blow this nowComment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I think my intramural team defends better than Porto did.
We're now through to the quarterfinal with a chance to win both the EPL and the CL. I am way more optimistic about this team than I was at this point last year.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I'm cautiously optimistic only because we need to beat an elite team...Porto is one thing but beating Chelsea, United, Barca, or Madrid would really make me feel better
Having said that, I like where we are and it's better than any point last seasonComment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I don't like our chances much in Europe, just because we don't have the big bodies to really compete w/ the top class (see our recent games against Man U and Chelsea). I think we'll have better luck domestically, where we've taken care of business against lower rung teams as well as anyone. With that being said, Champs League is a crapshoot once the round of 8 is reached, so I'll let the dream of a double dance in my head a little longer.Comment
