Yeah, it is possible given the competition Portugal is up against. They could easily score bunches of goals, but Russia should also get a result in their match pretty easily.

Colombia also qualified with their comeback today against Chile.

Trailed 3-0, ended up a 3-3 draw, 2 goals coming after Chile was down to 10.

Ecuador and Chile are likely to get the other 2 spots, along with Argentina and Colombia. Uruguay is guaranteed at least the playoff with Jordan. They'd have to beat Argentina and Ecuador or Chile would have to get blown out in their head to head. If Ecuador and Chile perhaps agreed to just draw 0-0 with eachother, both would clinch.

Honduras in with a draw between Mexico and Panama tonight. Not unlikely given Mexico's great knack for drawing this year.

Big goal for Panama in the 81st. 1-1 now. Good news for Honduras.

You mean something weird like this? Just replace Green with Hart and Dempsey with Lewandowski. With Joe Hart's current form for club and country, I wouldn't bet against it.

I'll be rooting like crazy for Iceland. They travel to Norway in 2nd place 1 point up on Slovenia, who travel to group winners Switzerland. This might be Iceland's best chance at ever qualifying for a World Cup. Their population is about the same as St. Paul, MN.

EDIT: Iceland are up 1-0! Ahhhh!

EDIT2: Bosnia scores a goal in the 68th minute and are now on the verge of qualifying. Greece is 2nd on GD coming into today and were in position to qualify until that goal.

EDIT3: Russia are in the World Cup. Portugal will go to the playoff (I think, barring some crazy things happening in the 2nd place table).

The wikipedia page you showed me says Portugal, Sweden and Greece are guarantees. That means Ukraine would be guaranteed as well as France. It seems the Denmark/Bulgaria 2nd place team is almost a guarantee to be the one out. Looking like Denmark since they're up comfortably. So all the other 2nd place teams look good.

Iceland are looking safe since Slovenia are losing to Switzerland. Iceland would have to lose and Slovenia would have to come back to draw.

Yep, the only way Croatia would miss out is if Armenia beat Italy and somehow climbed into 2nd place because they lost to Malta and would only have 3 points knocked from their point total. It's not going to happen.
