Whatever group we're in is going to be the "Group of Death" more than likely. There could be a few of them

We need to be praying for several upsets in the UEFA and CAF playoffs.

If CONCACAF can find a way to be in the same pot as CAF, that's even better

Can someone clarify? From what I can tell, all they have done is won their qualifying group.

There are surely other teams (from somewhere other than Europe) that deserve to be in the first pot...

Sure, I'm a homer, but the US has owned it's qualifying run, and had an impressive win streak, even if primarily against CONCACAF nations.

Sure, I'm a homer, but the US has owned it's qualifying run, and had an impressive win streak, even if primarily against CONCACAF nations.

We may have owned our qualifying run, but Switzerland didn't lose a single game in their group. Even though it was a relatively weak group, that's impressive. They also beat Brazil in a friendly this year. In fact, I can't even find the last time they lost a match. It might have been all the way back in Euro 2012 qualifying, seeing that they didn't make the tournament.

EDIT: Found it. The last time the senior team lost a match was a friendly against Romania on May 30, 2012. Right before that, they had beaten Germany in a friendly.

I had to look too because I'm surprised they're 7th. They also got the benefit of some weird results. Like Italy drawing at home to Armenia in their last match.

Mexico doesn't seem like it's taking this tie with New Zealand very seriously. They've only called up Liga MX players and Herrera is starting 7 players from Club America tomorrow.
