That's how I converted my best friend. He used to dislike soccer, he fell in love with FIFA, studied the game, and now it's his favorite sport.

He will actual be in Brazil for the Germany and Portugal games. FIFA 06 World Cup was the game that did him in.

Yeah, I've converted a few friends into footy fans through video games. Hell, I fell in love with the game back in the Nintendo days through that game Goal. Then it magnified with the first World Cup game on Genesis.

Fifa 96 was when I became obsessed with soccer. I think I was 8 years old when that game came out. I don't recall it being very good, but it got me hooked.

I always enjoyed soccer but really learned the rules and teams by playing FIFA. Now it's my favorite sport besides baseball and I never buy Madden anymore, just play FIFA.

That game is what got me and my cousin into soccer.

Either that or we find out how addicted they can become

I mean it's easy, I can put it down whenever I want, it's definitely not nearing 5 am on a Sunday morning as I finalize a few depth transfers into my squad and get friendlies out of the way.

[this is meant in a funny way]

As for who I'd support outside of the US, normally it's Denmark as I'm 50% Danish, but since they didn't qualify, Germany, since they have the highest amount of "players I enjoy watching" with Italy being second. And Mexico being dead last.

But what about the idea of cheering on Mexico. The better the CONCAAF does the better it is for USA. Or do you not read to much into that idea? I was listening to a pregame show (forgot which game) and they were saying that the better Mexico, Honduras, USA etc.. do then they might get 3.5 auto teams in the next world cup instead of 2.5?

Would it really matter if all the CONCACAF teams were put in the same pot come time for the finals draw?

                              yeah..I'm still bitter.

Not sure what I was thinking before with how badly I spelled CONCACAF. But seriously, I was asking if this is not a major concern for fans? I am still trying to learn how all the drawings and things work and while I hate cheering for Mexico, I was under the impression that it is good for USA if they win. But if you guys can give me a reason for not cheering for Mexico that would be great.
