You can thank Dempsey for half of those. Tries to be too fancy all the time. Receive the damn ball and play it off accordingly. We don't get an extra point for a spectacular pass.

Boys, the Yanks are coming! This team is ready to go!!!

I agree, there were some chances he should have passed especially that play with jozy on his left but the defender was closing down behind jozy pretty quick and dempsey shot it which I guess im ok with it. The U.S. needs to play unselfishly to score goals in this world cup, they dont have any superstars

Watching these 3 friendlies I'm pleased with what's happened. You really can't put much stock into the actual results. But from what I've seen we're ready and well-coached. If the back line can hold (big if) we'll get through the group. At that point who knows what'll happen.

I noticed that as well. Dempsey also had people set him up for some great looks a couple of times and he just completely missed/misplayed the ball.

The team looked really good on the counter attacks that started with Howard.

They were in the diamond again yesterday.

hmm, I read on another site they were in more of a 4-1-4-1. I guess like Klinsmann says though it's not the formation that is important.

That's what lots of places are saying, but watching it, they were clearly in the diamond with Jones on the left.

Looked like a 4-2-3-1 to me with Dempsey pushing up often. There was a lot of fluidity but maybe I missed something.

Looks like a left CDM heat map who drifted into the hole left by Dempsey, no?

Either way that heat map is not what I expected to see from either Dempsey or Jones.

Do we have Brad Davis' heat map when he played LM in the diamond for comparison? I'm just genuinely curious.

Hm. That's interesting. In the first half especially I thought we were much more tight in the midfield compared to the Turkey match.

looks like on defense they played a 4-3-2-1 or a Christmas tree formation as some call it.

Maybe JK had the guys switching in and out of formations in order to confuse Ghana so they won't really know what they are going to be going up against?

From what I saw and what Ives says on his recent podcast, it looked like a 4-3-2-1 on defense (the 3 being Bedoya, Jones, and Beckerman) and a 4-1-3-2 on offense (with Jones going wide and Dempsey going up top).
