It'd be kinda sad to just see him waltz in and take a spot from a guy thats worked his *** off for this team like Hercules Gomez.

For the first time in my adult life, this team is an absolute blast to watch. Danke Jurgen!

Who are some of the guys you have as fringe players? I think Corona is a lock and Castillo might of lost his spot. Parkhurst played fairly well but his club situation isn't that great so that might prevent him from making it. Jose Torres is a guy I'd love to see on the roster, he'll likely be fighting Brad Davis for a spot. Eddie Johnson has shown he can play everywhere and is close to a lock imo. Bedoya and Shea could be fighting for a spot with each other as well. Goodson looks to have asserted himself as our 3rd/4th CB. I liked Orozco but I don't know if there's room for him.

I was thinking Shea would be a near lock but I am really frustrated with the injury he picked up in the Phila Union friendly. It could be a fairly serious knee injury.

I think Eddie Johnson will certainly be a lock. A guy with that combination of pace, strength, and size will be a valuable asset as a sub in the WC.

How do you feel about Bedoya? I am a pretty big fan of his.

I like Bedoya a lot. Bob Bradley was pretty fond of him as well, I mean he started Adu and Bedoya in the Gold Cup final two years ago and both were pretty impressive. But our defense was absolute **** back then as we found out that day. He's more of a straight up winger persay. He looked a little tentative his first appearances back, but you could see his confidence, assertiveness, and ability in the knockout rounds.

I like the fact that we have so many options in the wings. We could go with an inside forward type like Eddie Johnson on either side, Joe Corona who can play like a wide, very technical midfielder who can tuck in, like Jose Torres. Than we have pure wingers in Bedoya and Shea. Fabian Johnson is a nice mix of the two. Than Graham Zusi is just Graham Zusi. I doubted him going into the hex. But his technical ability, IQ, and willingness to take on defenders is something this team has really lacked. Than his work rate of course. That 20 yard track back to save a wide open header against Mexico was brilliant.

I have to agree with this. Our flexibility and depth on the wings is much stronger than I had thought going into the Gold Cup. This will provide Jurgen with some interesting tactical options moving forward.

Dempsey headed back to MLS. Completing transfer to Seattle.

                Not sure what to think...

He'll actually get regular playing time, so it has to be good, with a WC next summer

It's ridiculous how MLS is skirting it's own rules on returning USMNT players to get him in Seattle. Makes me sick.

Donovan is probably happy. Now he can likely freely move to wherever he wants next year since Dempsey could take over his role as the American MLS starlet. Interested to hear what Klinsmann thinks of this move.

isn't the allocation rule not involved if the returning USMNT player coming in is going to be a DP?

Anyways, glad he's coming back and I'll be glad to boo the heck out of him too. He's now the enemy. haha

That's what they're saying now, but 1) it's not written anywhere in their roster rules and 2) Freddy Adu was a Designated Player and was still subject to the Allocation Order.

apparently he wasn't a DP right off the bat when he signed with the Union. Not sure how true that is though

Pretty sure he was from the start, since he wasn't in the league long enough to sign a second deal. But who knows. It's just ridiculous the lack of transparency the league has. If you're going to put up roster regulations, you should put them all up, not leave some out for whatever reason.
