He would get torn up against a full national team. Honestly, he's a very sub-par defender, and if he wants his future to be as a right back he needs to work on that. I'd be perfectly happy if he didn't get called up until after the World Cup.

Agreed. He can learn what he needs to defensively. Athletically speaking he is on the plus side and you can't teach that.

Can Aron even play in this match or is he just there to train with the guys? I thought he hadn't been cleared to play with us yet.

Sounds like not yet. Maybe it'll go through just in time. Regardless, it's a good opportunity to get him integrated with the guys.

Johannsson's switch has been approved by FIFA, so he's officially ours and can play tomorrow.

Am I the only one that feels this might be the hungriest US National Team with the most to prove going into the World Cup? I hope next year is the year that they can shock the world with a deep run and I feel like this is the squad that can do it.

I hope we aren't setup for a huge letdown. It's all going to depend on the group draw

It all depends on who we draw. Get Brazil, a decent European team, and a decent African team (say...Brazil, France/Belgium, Ghana) and we could be easily looking at 0 points again.

From what I've seen of Xolos lately Greg Garza looks like he could be our future left back. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better defender than Castillo and just as good moving forward.

Here's a highlight reel of him with the U-20's a couple years ago. He looks amazing.

His play was pretty polished even at that point. Although he he does try to be a little too cute too often back there for my liking. But you have to love his confidence.

Yup his crossing and passing is absolutely brilliant. Really composed on the ball as well. Didn't see too much defensively in that video but he is pretty quick and bulky as well.

Brazil, Belgium, Ghana, US would likely be the hardest group ever put together.

Two of those teams are legit threats for the WC, Ghana and US could easily get to the Quarter Finals or even Semis.
