Well the US has certainly came out to play today. Now if we could fix this defense

Get Pulisic out of there. They're blatantly attacking him.

All three of the big dogs up front scored. Can't complain about that. I like that setup, with those three. I've been a big Bobby Wood supporter since his days with Union Berlin. Love seeing him score.

just finished watching the game, what a sad, pathetic showing by Panama. It'd be a real shame for them to make the World Cup, I'd be absolutely embarrassed as a fellow CONCACAF member to have them representing us.

Altidore's penalty was so cheese it was lovely tho

Lmao, that was one of the worst ones I've seen recently.

Replay showed the dude straight up just elbowed Besler in the face and ref doesn't even give a card. Panama could have gotten at least 2 reds that game.

There was that other one later where that Sounders defender literally just hockey checked Jozy while he was trying to run after another Panama player who had the ball. Ref standing right there and just told Jozy to get up.

Anyway, we really need someone to replace Jones tbh. Every team has an "enforcer" type of player who will go and get physical with opposition players who are heavily fouling the team. Jones used to do that but he's far too crap to play for us these days, so we need someone else to step in and stand up for our attackers who get the crap kicked out of them.

The only person who sort of does that is Jozy, but he's one of the attackers getting the crap kicked out of him.

Also, this game totally let Arena off the hook, which is unfortunate. Our defense is shocking without Brooks and Yedlin, we dominated a self-imploding Panama from start to finish and they still almost scored several times. Yedlin totally bailed us out more than once. If we were playing a real team today we'd have gotten scored on several times.

Yedlin was so good. I haven't seen much of him at Newcastle, but he was our savior so many times, and I didn't think I'd be saying that about him on the defensive end.

If there is one thing you can count on Rafa for, it's defense. Rafa seems to have been a fantastic influence on Yedlin's defensive progress, which really isn't too surprising.

It's a bit funny seeing how Liverpool and poor defending has been going on for so long it became a meme, because Rafa's Liverpool was basically the opposite for the most part. Their defense was a nightmare and then their offense was basically Gerrard, Torres a bit later, and a bunch of other players doing what appeared to be an interpretive performance art piece.

Could be worse. Could be playing a qualifier in Africa. Where the field was mostly dirt, looked like it was in the middle of an open field.

And the keeper was toying with the striker, and the striker kicked it out of his hand and into goal.

I don’t have beIN so i took up the free trial from Fubol TV for this game. I wish they’d pick someone besides beIN for WCQ games.

US is lucky the ref didn't give a penalty there, or it could be 2-0 already

Should have been a penalty. Does the US know they need to win? Or most likely at least tie?

Most refs would call that, which is fine because Omar is stupid to go to ground there, but if you watch the replay you can see the forward going down before Omar touches him.

Basically, Omar goes to ground sliding straight but hasn’t brought his feet around yet, forward throws himself down in anticipation of contact, THEN Omar makes actual contact. If Omar had just kept sliding straight trying to block the ball instead of trying to make a tackle, it would have been one of those blatant comedy dives you see on compilation videos.

Somehow, it was both a penalty and a dive.
