Amazing save by Sean Johnson. Don't think Rimando would have been able to make that one. Than a classic Landon Donovan led counter attack. Great for Shea to get that goal as he was looking to be a game changer with some of his runs off of long balls as soon as he got in.

Won the group and kept a clean sheet. Success.

Tough game as expected, but LD came through! The bracket looks very tough on the USA side.

Don't overlook the importance of Joe Corona springing Donovan on that counter, or Shea's recognition of what was going to happen with that impressive run that started even before Donovan was on the ball.

Corona and Donovan played that sharp. Looked like nerves got Shea at the last second or general lack of playing time got to him with the almost botched finish. He definitely needed that though

Shea was making impressive runs as soon as he stepped on the field. I think Bedoya starting over Corona was really just more of giving Bedoya another look more than anything. Corona has been extremely impressive and showing why he's been called up to the USMNT consistently this past year. Beckerman will always be a scapegoat and I did it myself to be honest. However, I think you could see we really missed him in the midfield at times.

It was great to get the win, and also to overcome that hilariously bad reffing decision to yellow card the GK instead of sending him off.

Donovan is playing like he didn't just take time off to "find himself," and I think this Gold Cup is cementing a starting place for him in our first choice eleven.

The run by Brek was perfect. Felt good to see him have some success. He has so much potential.

Top of the group and no goals for Sean Johnson; I like it.

I still can't believe that wasn't a straight red on their keeper. Solid performance considering Costa Rica's defensive mentality and commitment to staying disciplined.

I'm pissed I'm going to miss the game on Sunday (traveling). Bmore is close enough for me to go too

The referee had a bad match all around. Not only on the keeper incident, but also with several foul calls/non-calls that made no sense each way. He was very inconsistent.

CONCACAF refs have been a joke all around really. El Salvador shouldn't have gotten that penalty the other day, the 4th Cuba goal was offside. Than the blatant handling by the Costa Rican keeper outside by the box.

How about the 4th goal that was disallowed by the officials for being offside. It certainly looked onside to me. The sound was muted on my TV though so there could have been a legit reason it was waived.

Interesting that the USA made all four of their allowed roster changes while the rest of the QF teams only made 3 combined.

                            It's ours to win

Apparently the Gooch for Gonzo change was made out of necessity due to injury.
