A draw on the road isn't the worst thing in the world, but talk about just going through the motions. Blech.

I'm so glad you mentioned that futbo site for days like this and I have to work.b I didn't know it existed. I'll sign up this weekend. Plus Ligue 1 football is actually pretty decent.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
I'm still not that confident in Zardes as a forward. Some very basic play that was not done correctly. I hope it was just nerves, but he doesn't strike me as someone who gets bothered by that. Would have liked to see Wood a little earlier in the match.
I hate this word as much as anyone, but it is the only one that comes to mind to compare T&T to the USMNT, and that was SWAG. You could tell when T&T were on the ball, they had confidence, they pushed forward, they had flair - having the ball was a celebration. US players on the other hand were very technical, and the creativity either came from Bradley or Johnson on occasion.
Thankfully, I caught the replay of the match at 10:30 PM CST on Bein Sports English - so that worked out just fine. Just cannot put that much stock into a beta DVR. Other than that, the service is fantastic, and the HD quality playback is superb. Cannot beat that pricetag $6.99 per month - especially when you're a cable cutter like myself.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Personally, I'm not sure why we don't just play a midfield 2 of Bradley and Cameron. Cameron is as good of a passer as Jones, not nearly as reckless but still offers enough steel. It would allow us to play with 3 AM's which would get the best out of our current available attacking midfield options, and one of those AM's could easily be swapped for a striker if needed.
Brooks is already our best CB by a mile, and we could rotate between Besler/Alvarado until Miazga is ready (which might be pretty soon honestly).
Our main problem has been our fullbacks, which I'm sure could be rectified by giving somebody new a chance instead of calling up the same defenders over and over.
I dunno, I just think we look very stale and lack creativity. We need to try some new fullbacks so we can play Johnson in the midfield, and call up people like Feilhaber so Bradley is not the only person creating chances. We are so predictable right now:
1. Long ball to Jozy for a 50% chance of him controlling it
2. Hope Yedlin can run past his 2 or 3 defenders (because they already know that's option 2) and put in a cross for our 0 runners to latch onto
3. Bradley trying to scoop/flick/send through somebody into the box who isn't ready for it/didn't want it/lacks the awareness to ever make a proper run
4. Repeat
We need more of an actual system rather than just an idea of how to play.Comment

Cameron isn't German enough to replace Jermaine. (only half joking)Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Probably to be expected since they've been in a training camp for a while, but the US looked the best they've looked in a really long time on Sunday. Anyone else watch the match? I thought the midfield completely dominated play and created a lot of good things. Defense had a couple lapses, but in the end conceded goals on a deflection and a great individual play after a quickly-taken free kick.
Iceland were missing their best player, but they've looked really good lately and the US took it to them for 90 minutes.
If they play like that against Canada, it's not gonna be pretty for the hat.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 02-01-2016, 08:55 PM.Comment

Feilhaber...
What has kept him out of the discussion all these years? Seemed to be the best passer of the ball among the younger generation a few years ago...
I know there have been other midfield options, but few of them have offered something over and above what it seems Feilhaber could.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment
