My only real gripe is Sargent being left off this roster AND the U-20 World Cup roster. Him being on either one would've made me happier. Other than that it's about what I expectes.

Do they still do the thing where you can change the roster after the group stages?Comment

I understand fans dont like Bradleybbut numerous player have said that they love his leadership. I dont think Bradley is going anywhere til Bradley wants to. I'd also cut Lewis before I'd cut Jozy, personally.Support Local Sports

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Bradley has played more or less fine under Berhalter so far.
I have a much bigger gripe with using guys like Morris, who genuinely hasn’t done anything to warrant repeated call-ups. His peak performance was when he was 19 in a friendly, and since then it really seems like he’s been called up in hopes he will play like that again but he really doesn’t.
Lewis doesn’t need to be there, Ream has been good for us before but it’s time to move on. I’m still waiting to see why Roldan is so hyped, and that third gk spot should really always be going to a kid. Just one of those things most other countries do that we need to adopt. The reason we get stuck with 3, 30+ gks all the time is because we don’t have a tradition/culture of involving young players, and it really needs to start early.
Like, Johnson at this point isn’t going to be reaching the potential everyone thought he had, and while Miller might be playing well, he’s a 26 year old keeper who will almost certainly spend his career in the MLS. Steffen is both the present and the future, but we need to be involving more young keepers at an earlier stage. I read an article about Miller and they were talking about him like he’s an 18 year old academy prospect.
Anyway that’s my little rant, I just don’t like the way we’ve approached the gk position in recent years.Comment

This doesn't matter much to most people it seems, as soon as he makes a mistake people will want him out simply because of the T&T fiasco.

On Jordan Morris and Sean Johnson, I think both of these are pretty easy to file under "Berhalter favorites" I don't know why Horvath is always overlooked, as I'd rather have him as the backup/2nd/competing for 1st choice GK than Johnson and he's not that bad at playing out of the back but alas. I agree that Miller is a weird inclusion and I always get tricked in to thinking he's younger than he is. Hopefully Ochoa will replace him at other points. Morris is good at running channels still even if he's lost the pace that made him dangerous at it. There was always going to be one channel runner striker that made it, and it was probably between him and Christian Ramirez.
Ream is there because I assume that Berhalter wanted experience in the place of the injured John Brooks, if John Brooks is available I bet Tim Ream isn't involved. I'd love to see Brooks/Miazga/Zimmerman as the back 3 in his shift system, but I have a feeling it won't happen enough for my liking.
Roldan is probably due to the fact that we're still riding his hype train. There's a number of players that I would take before him, but I'm not the manager. I think a bunch of our midfielders are just average players that are easily interchanged.
I don't understand Lewis.Support Local Sports

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Absolutely agree Bradley will always be a scapegoat. Honestly it started when he was 18, had to constantly play through accusations he was only there because of his dad, despite how clearly talented he was. I'll always have a soft spot for him.
I see what you're saying about Morris, but I still don't think we NEED him, or even Ramirez. Zardes does the same thing but he still has his pace, we don't need multiple technically limited forwards.
Also agree about our midfield, which is why I just think we should be putting all our eggs in the youth basket. McKennie and Adams are the only names that should always be there, everyone else in those positions (Bradley, Trapp, Acosta, Roldan etc.) all have major weaknesses. Trapp and Bradley probably the best of that group, but I would love to see people like Hyndman and Parks get more time. Both are probably just as good as the others but with the bonus of being young, though obviously not all are the same type of CM.
Also doesn't help that there is a STEEP drop from Adams and McKennie to the next best CM. It's not even close, those two look like they could become genuine top level players and nobody else is even remotely near that level.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Also wanted to say, CM is another position where I feel we really screwed up regarding the culture and setting ourselves up for the future.
Benny Feilhaber was our chance. He had a level of vision in the attacking third that literally no other US center mid has had. He wasn't a top player by any means, but he is the type of CM we should be looking to encourage and produce at the youth level. Multiple coaches failing to use him properly should definitely go down as one of the biggest fails in changing the US culture and setup. He's essentially a homeless man's Fabregas, and it's really a type of CM we've never been known to produce.
Repeatedly not using him was easily one of the dumbest things I've witnessed as a US soccer supporter.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
^ 100% agreement on Feilhaber...kinda wish he'd gone somewhere other than Derby Co...still not sue why he was all-but frozen out of the National team.
As for Bradley, I supported the guy for years and appreciated his knack for being aggressive in attack at just the right times...
After leaving Roma, he declined...he was still maybe our best holding mood for a while, but I soured well before the TnT match...he had can turning in rather bad performances for a while...bad passes, lots of them.
It's impossible to tell, but I'm curious if his tenure would've ended before TnT if his name wasnt Bradley...
Odds on him becoming USMNT manager in 20+ years?Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
He definitely declined a lot, but we also didn't use him the same way Roma and Chievo did. People have pointed to Feilhaber having some so/so performances for the US as his reason for not being used, but we legitimately never used him properly in just about any of the games he played for the US.
Say what you want about Bob Bradley, but he was genuinely the last US coach to properly utilize his kid, he's been more or less playing out of position the entire rest of his US career.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Feilhaber didn't really help himself over the years either by being a bit of a dick. He wasn't one to play the politics game.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Also probably a decent chance his repeated exclusion despite being clearly our best center mid helped encourage the douchness.
Lukaku is a great example. He was a great kid with a great attitude before Chelsea strung him along for years. Now he's an arrogant dick but I firmly believe we played a big role in that.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
I wonder if we would've fared better at the U20WC if Sargent and Sands had been included, instead of excluded from all international duty all summer.
I assume this is partly due to Earnie Stewart and his still confusing GM roleSupport Local Sports

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Soto was pretty good throughout the tournament but he kinda struggled today vs Ecuador.
A little lucky with all the shots Ecuador hit off the post but a little unlucky with the 2nd goal. I still think he was in an offside position at the start of the move.
