    Re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread

The USWNT wants USSF to make up the discrepancy in FIFA World Cup pay.

    FIFA. FIFA.

There is no end to the insanity.
    Australian Rules Football...just sayin'

Do the USWNT and their lawyers legitimately think the Women's game (and WC in particular) generate even close to the same amount of revenue as the men's game? I'm for equal pay in the workplace regardless of sex, race, etc.; however, I don't think a person that generates a fraction of the value should be paid the same. Is there something I'm missing? Am I blinded by my own bias? If I am, please tell me so I can try to see things from a different perspective.

        Re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread

I just looked at the numbers. The 2018 men's WC generated ~$6.1 billion (with a 'B') while the 2019 women's WC generated ~$131 million (with a 'M'). Of that, men's players were awarded approximately 6% while the women were awarded 20%. With that said, one could argue the men's teams around the globe can argue for more from FIFA.

Don't get me wrong though, the USSF is a giant poop show and needs new leadership from the ground up. So in no way am I defending the federation.

The new uniform that was released today looks awful.

I mean one thing to also take into consideration is the funding that goes into the sport is also varying greatly. The USSF still does a pretty horrible job of promoting the women's team. Revenue generation is one thing, but the Men's team wasn't always a cash cow either. If you don't put any money into promoting and growing the team and the sport, how can you expect sponsors to help generate that revenue.

Ultimately the women's game is looking for more investment, which can lead to more growth, which can lead to more revenue, which can lead to more people playing and even more growth and revenue. The problem of course, is like many sports, the fact that the return on investment isn't guaranteed short term, means that they just seem less interested in taking on the risk that comes with investing.

Canada vs USA in the semis....at 4AM ET...who is in charge of scheduling?

Australia vs Sweden happens 3 hours later.

If they swapped times, the other game would've been on at 6pm in Sydney (compared to 9pm) and 10am in Stockholm (compared to 1pm) while Canada vs USA would've been on at 7am ET.

7am is still early, but definitely would have a shot of people watching it over here.

People who live in Japan where it's being held. The schedule for any tournament is set before the teams are even drawn for the group stage.

Also, the 2nd match has to be 3 hours later to allow for extra time and penalties if they happen.

Been watching the Gold Cup matches. It's not as fun with the B team, but hey, we get the US-Mexico final. They'll probably destroy us, but oh well.

Kellyn Acosta is a grade-A ****houser. I predict he will either get sent off vs Mexico or get a Mexican player sent off. Hell, why not both?!

I know the times are set already, but Canada vs US I'd imagine is the bigger draw for them TV wise, especially with NBC having the rights in the US.

Mexico hasn’t played well and nearly lost to Canada. The US definitely has a shot.

                          that was really fun.

                          1-0 and 2-0 in finals.

Beating Mexico twice in finals this summer has been really nice. Especially when it’s our B/C team and their mostly A team.

Glad that game will be on at 10pm ET, definitely worth staying up for.
