He was way better than Morata today too.

Hopefully today was the spark we needed, but honestly some of our play is worrisome.

That being said, it’s probably safe to say that like 95% of our issues this season are simply due to the Kante-sized hole in our midfield.

When your midfield isn’t fully functional, it’s hard for the rest of your team to be.

Good win but Wily really deserved that clean sheet.

That game just sums up why I don't like Everton, and actually I think Tom Davies is a human microcosm of "Everton vs a big team". He is a quality player capable of performing quite well, but vs big teams he just completely loses his head and spends the entire game running around fouling people and getting away with it.

Everton's team in general gets away with a pretty substantial amount of dirty play, probably because they still have that "good guy Everton" image. The reality is they've had some of the dirtiest players in the league for years, and it drives me nuts whenever we play them because I know I'm in for watching 90 minutes of my team getting fouled while praying nobody injures Hazard.

        Anyway, onward and upward.

Agreed Brahv. There was a 20 minute interval where between Davies and Williams they were running around hacking our guys down and/or elbowing them in the head on every ball in the air. It took the crowd reaction for Swarbrick to finally book Davies.

Very sexy 2nd goal on the 2 man game by Willian and Cesc. Cesc was pretty terrible before that interchange too. Also surprised to see Drinkwater out there but what better competition to get some live action minutes than the worthless League Cup.

No injuries, needed rest for some key guys and valuable minutes/confidence boosts for youngsters and Willian.

Also, Zappa can run for days.

Yeah I was pretty pleased with Drinkwater. Thought he did well considering he hasn’t played a game in over a decade.

Also Ampadu was very impressive. Ultra-composed the whole game and constantly trying longer and more high-risk passes without fear, even if a bunch of them didn’t come off.

Really great showing for a 17 year old kid up against a super physical and higher profile team.

Ampadu got up after a nasty challenge too from that Everton player with the terrible high top cut. I thought him and Danny played well but you could tell they weren’t on the same page with the regulars. Nothing you can’t fix with practice and the next League/FA Cup fixtures.

Also a nice cross on his weaker foot by Charly and a hell of a header by Rudi. Even though it was reckless I kinda liked the mean streak showed by Rudi when he got booked. He actually didn’t get fouled on the play that pissed him off. Ball hit him right in the cheek lol.

I don't think Charly has a weak foot.

Think I remember that being one of the first things noticed about him, how two-footed he was at an unusually early age.

Finishing boots weren’t equipped but 3 points in a congested fixture list is 3 points nonetheless.

We really need Cesc to find his magic again as it’s starting to look more and more like relying on Eden to unlock defenses.

A solid cameo by Drinkwater again. Broke up a few attacks and held onto position when Bournemouth started pressing high.

Saw somebody online saying that they couldn’t think of another lone player in the league that has the kind of offensive burden that Hazard does, and how rare it is that this happens on a top team.

I know we’ve talked about it here before plenty of times, but I’d still love to get just one more really top class attacker.

I do think Morata is going to help Hazard more and more, but we are still far too reliant on him. We NEED him rather than using him.

                      Agreed Brahv.

That Hazard leaping backheel flick at the edge of the box to Morata and lovely control, touch, and shot by him was deserving of a goal.

                      Damn you Asmir!

So thanks to Atletico being straight buns right now, we just need to be Qarabag and we are in the knockouts.

In other news, Conte really needs to try something different. 2-man midfield of Baka and Cesc is absolute suicide. I realize we are short on midfielders at the moment, but damn just put Luiz in there then. Might not be that creative, but at least we won't get bulldozed in the middle of the park. Not to mention, it would mean Christensen gets his deserved minutes, since he is basically our best CB right now and he's on the bench most of the time.

Also, I guess we can probably say that Hazard really does love Chelsea. The fact that he hasn't left yet despite walking around with a giant target on his back every game, with zero consistently reliable help, suggests he is at least a bit fond of us.

I know it’s Halloween and all but man, Morata’s costume and performance of Fernando Torres was amazing.

On a serious note, since the injury he has lacked confidence and desire. His form has dipped despite Hazard working pretty good chances for him. Spot light will be on him Sunday, time to step up.

Xfinity refuses to broadcast FS2 still and disappointingly this game wasn’t on ESPN3.com so I got a free trial with fuboTV to watch it. They also have a ChelseaTV channel which is pretty cool.
