I’ll be curious if FIFA says anything. They were upset when MK Dons moved. I believe they said it would never happen again but I know MLS is set up different than the other countries.

As far as I’m aware the MK Dons/Wimbledon thing was a very specific situation and a loophole was found etc. Wasn’t just fifa that was mad, the whole country was pissed.

In American sports though, teams getting moved has happened since the beginning really. I think fifa wouldn’t be able to do much, even if they wanted to.

And MLS is single entity, which is much different than other leagues. So I would guess that plays into this as well. It's 1 giant company and each club is just a "division" of it (to use a very naive analogy).

Why are they wanting to build a new stadium? The current one isn't even 20 years old and seems to be just fine. Is the location terrible? If so, why did they build there in the first place?

20 years old isn’t old for Europe, but it’s old for us, especially in the MLS where the older stadiums were built sort of cheaply and not really with the same kind of knowledge and planning level of European teams.

Crew’s stadium is pretty trash compared to most of the MLS these days, and the location is pretty bad as well. General consensus is that there are nicer HS stadiums in Columbus than the one Crew play in.

So yeah they actually do need a new stadium, but letting them move the team would set a terrible precedent.

Agreed. I hope the voice of reason takes over in this situation, and things are resolved.

Gonna be a wild final day of season.

Will TFC set new mls record for points?
3 teams battling for final playoff spot in west
3 teams battling for 1st in west
Very unlikely scenario, but small chance Columbus goes from 5th to 2nd in East.
Outside of TFC in 1st and Red Bulls 6th, no other spot in mls is secured

I'm saying Portland wins the West, NYfc gets 2nd in East and SJ with their - 22GD makes playoffs.

TFC sets MLS record for points in a season! Now lets hope they can build on this and win it all!

TFC VS Red Bulls in next round. I don't mind beating 2 NY teams to get to the finals

Two pretty blah MLS Playoff games to kick things off last night. Hopefully the two games tonight will be a little more competitive. The Red Bulls looked good against Chicago last night, but they'll get hammered by Toronto FC in the next round. I'm hoping for a TFC vs. Atlanta United match-up just because of all the sheer talent on the field in that one.

It's easy to believe when you remember that MLS is about 1 thing, and 1 thing only. Money. Univision pays them well to televise games in Spanish throughout the season and gets playoff games as part of the package.

Only reason I'd rather face Atlanta is because of their stadium. Does NYfc still play at Yankee stadium? Because I hated how that looked both for fans in attendance and at home.

But Atlanta with new stadium that seats so many people, it really gives it such a big time feel, especially in their first playoffs.

I subscribed to MLS Live this season for the first time, so I watched some of the Vancouver game there. For my money, it's about the best deal out there for soccer fans in the U.S. It's only $80 or $90 for the entire season which is dirt cheap for the quantity of matches. I'll be doing it every season moving forward.
