Is it all on him? No. But the reason I brought it up is that it was the same as Man United. Far, far too few players were improving under him, and before anyone says well that's not what you bring him in for—gone are the days where a club is going to spend whatever it takes to give him whatever players he desires.

As for that which is not his fault, that's why it always seemed an absolutely absurd hire and nothing more than Levy getting his white whale or something. It was never the right hire for Spurs, regardless of if they win a league cup.

It was a really big risk by Levy but it makes sense to why he would do it. You either win a trophy, finish top 4 or it collapses. All Levy wants is a trophy (FA Cup, EFL cup or Europa league nobody expects the league) and to finish top 4. No matter how bad it has been for Jose, he has won trophies everywhere so it was a big gamble but an obvious one for Levy.

I'm not and never have been a Jose fan. But I completely understood the hire, we have a core that is at the very end of it's time and Levy wanted one last shot at winning something before selling Kane, Lloris, Son and starting a rebuild.

The gamble failed, Spurs are no worse off now than when Poch was here trophy-wise so now we can start the rebuild.

I'd say not reinvesting more in the squad in the past few years made 'gambling' on Jose the equivalent of going to the roulette table and putting all your money on purple.

Not even a gamble, just pure desperation that came too late?

They did invest in the squad though.

          Bergwyn
          Ndombele
          Lo Celso
          Reguillon
          Hojberg
          Doherty
          Etc...

Like Stl said, their core was/is win-now so Mou made sense despite all the baggage that comes with him.

Mou’s got this reputation of not improving players which is just media driven BS. Any Chelsea fan could name a dozen players who improved under Mou during his two stints.

To me, that reputation really began during his time at Man United. Whenever I would hear it brought up, it was in relation to essentially starting then, and his time at Chelsea was used as an example of how it's something he no longer seems to do as well.

Jose is a dinosaur in a very different evolving league.

Lol, at the ridiculous comments from Ole and Jose concerning the disallowed goal.

Ole said if his Son went down for 3 minutes like that he wouldn't get any food for dinner.

Jose said Son's father is a better father than Ole because he would feed his boy.

                  WTF?

I loved it from a purely entertainment standpoint. You have Ole, the manager of Bruno trying to criticize another player for faking injuries and then Jose taking Ole’s comments literally and saying you should feed your kids. Great stuff.

I will say one area Ole needs improvement is his interviews. He used the same exact line after our first game when Lamela went down. Top managers never repeat funny/ridiculous analogies.

Coming back to this to say that once this move was made, I was skeptical of it because I assumed there was no way he'd play the same or a similar role at Spurs that he did at Wolves. So, while on the surface it seemed like a good transfer, it had a high probability of not working too well.

He fit into his role and into the system at Wolves perfectly. Form what I've seen of him at Spurs...not really.

Absolutely... I watched Doherty pretty closely the last few years because of our fantasy league ha and yeah, he’s ONLY good as a WB which Spurs haven’t played that much of (stlducks probably knows more than me on this) consisting Jose loves the 4–2-3-1.

His fee was only ~14mil so it might have been worth it had he not been so injury prone this year

The Doherty transfer made sense if we would switch to a back 3 with WB. We did it in preseason and having Sessegnon/Reguilon on one side with Doherty/Aurier on the other looked good. Same with moving Davies to LCB like he plays for Wales.

A midfield of Lo Celso - Ndombele with Hojberg behind seemed a great fit as well and then Son/Kane up top in a 5-3-2 type system.

Jose tested it a bit in early Europa league games but then it stopped and since then Doherty has been awful and the transfer makes no sense. Easily the worst transfer Spurs have made in a while.

Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Rodon, Vinicius, Hart and Bale have all played roles this season but Doherty is awful.

Looks like you guys are doing a great job with the Spurs analysis so I'll just say I don't care what happens to them as long as they don't win any trophies, and I hope they fire Jose soon so one of my favorite ever managers can stop being associated with Spurs
