I understand that he may not start, but if you wouldn’t gladly welcome Saka into your squad right now, you clearly haven’t watched him play enough.

Yeah Bret’s tripping with that one [emoji23]. I’d gladly take him.

OK, one player who we could use when AFCON happens. Point still stands.

Again, it’s not surprising, or shouldn’t be. This didn’t happen overnight.

The team finished 8th two years in a row and last season could’ve easily been in the bottom-half.

In name and history only are Arsenal a ‘big club’ right now, but otherwise the squad is bloated with a mix match of players with no plan, similarly to how Everton could be described for the last…decade, at least.

You won’t find a sane Arsenal supporter who disagrees.

We’re very much in pre-Klopp Liverpool mode right now, but worse, with zero opens of turning it around.

Arteta will not be sacked in the next few weeks, and this ‘project’ will continue until KSE remembers Arsenal will not get a high draft pick next season.

James' red card + penalty is surely the biggest VAR intervention so far this season, right?

That was a little turn of events before the half.

Seeing Chelsea players, including their captain, swarm the referee makes me so sad.

Sad that it's something I never see from the entire spineless Arsenal squad.

Still trying to learn so forgive me. Why is that a red card? Handball in the box or that it potential was done to stop a goal?

Yeah, denial of a goal scoring opportunity.

They brought double jeopardy in a couple years ago which meant that being the last defender committing a foul leading to a pen wasn’t an automatic red card.

But if it stops a certain goal (or opportunity that would most likely result in a goal) from happening then it doesn’t apply. Penalty and red card.

                      Judged to be deliberate.

That’s kind of a harsh red I guess. But where he got in trouble is he moved his arm forward. It was going in off his thigh.

I would have been OK with just the penalty.

Actually, yeah, the intent won't matter in that situation as it was going in otherwise.

It's annoying how people (and pundits) are complaining about how he only took a quick look, as if the VAR official is not talking to him and essentially already told him the situation.

Looks like it’s that little movement from his arm towards the ball, because otherwise it comes off his leg first.

That being said, Anthony Taylor is still a clown because he didn’t even see that movement lmao. Walked over and saw a still image on screen of the ball on James’s hand and walked away without actually watching the clip. Imagine if that had been purely accidental with James trying to move his arm away.

Gets the decision right and still somehow proves he’s the worst ref in the league. I cannot believe he still gets Prem games.

As a neutral I'm pissed about the red, but it's still nice to watch a proper football match and not a training session.

                                Here's the law:

A player, substitute or substituted player who commits any of the following offences is sent off: • denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by a handball offence (except a goalkeeper within their penalty area)

The movement doesn't matter in that situation, as it was going in.
