The thing is, think about how often defenders put their arms down or to their sides to avoid this, because they know it can happen. He's basically spread eagle, trying to make his body as big as it can be.

    At least it's consistent...to an extent...kind of...in a way.

What a **** penalty from a player coming off cold from the bench. Absurdly poor management by Moyes.

      Terrible, terrible penalty.

You wouldn’t put a guy on cold to shoot to a free throw in the NBA so tell me again why you would do that for a penalty in footy?

          Southgate’ish…..

It's not just a guy, though, KG. It's the beating, but ever slowing heart of West Ham United, the specter of Mark Noble, taker of penalties.

That Zouma tackle was definitely a PK though. He didn’t get any of the ball.

Yeah…that was ridiculous on Moyes’ part. You never bring in someone cold off the bench to do anything.

Call me crazy, but I'm honestly glad that was a penalty. Keep your arms down, or behind your back. An illegal part of the body was used to block a cross that could result in a shot on goal, and it could easily be avoided by not throwing your arms out to the side as you jump in front of a cross.

Is every instance of cross to arm a penalty? No, but I think that one should be given the context of making the body bigger while jumping.

I started watching late...you don't mean the late one on Ronaldo, where before Zouma came into contact with him he had already started his trademark tree falling animation, right? To be fair, his programmers have mastered it to start at just the right time, but it's still simulation.

Yeah I don’t get the folks questioning that. It was an easy PK and should have been called in real-time.

I get it, as I think we're all a bit traumatized by the handballs and VAR last season, but that's the blatant type of non-intentional handball to me. He didn't try and handle it or make a move towards it, but he put himself in a position that could affect the ball/cross using his arm, that he doesn't have to do.

On a completely different note: last season the underlying metrics showed Brighton were a much, much, much better side than the table would have you believe...look at them now.

Good game overall for Man U. That was a penalty on Shaw. Unnatural position and all that. Ronaldo has to stop diving around but that last one with Zouma was a penalty. Pretty big win though and good for both Ole for trusting Lindgard still and Jesse for rewarding that trust. Still a lot of work to do.

How is Eric Dier still playing for a club the size of Spurs and not putting in a shift each week during a relegation battle with Newcastle? I don't get it.

How far down the 'short-list' was Nuno for Spurs? Tied for their eighth choice or something like that?
