Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
Honestly when you talk about endangering an opponent which of the two potential red card challenges fits that description?
They’re both reds but the Kane one is the clearest Red you’ll see all day.

The real farce is Tierney going to the monitor for Robertsons challenge but not for Kane’s.Comment

Nothing will change until England stops fetishizing sliding challenges and stops believing every player has the right to leave their feet when challenging for the ball.
Once they accept last-ditch defending is just ****ty, dangerous defending, maybe things will get better—maybe.Comment

Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
PL Clubs are discussing postponing the games on the 28, 29 and 30th.
Edit: According to The Athletic the don't want to postpone a week of games.

PL (and the clubs themselves) so opposed to a winter break they are willing to risk player health to avoid it.
Sounds about right.Comment

Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
The athletes need to be responsible and stay away from people once they are aware so as to not pass it on needlessly. But guess what - at some point, this is just how it's going to be. As the variants have moved, we have found that the most transmissible both get the most media coverage, but also are far less likely to result in a severe case and/or hospitalization - ESPECIALLY if you are vaccinated.
So while I tend to be cynical and think this is all about money (and don't get me wrong, it's a major factor), we also need to figure out how this looks going forward.Comment

'Festive fixtures', dangerous slide tackles, shoulder charges and ineffective concussion protocols—it's what makes the Premier League the Premier League.Comment

Here's the thing though - and this is what they're finding in the US leagues too. There are tons of positive cases right now, but the vast majority of them have no symptoms - and those that do have symptoms are very mild.

The X factor though is that Premier League vax rates are lower than all of our major sports here. Saw something the other day that said they’re at ~60% of PL players with both shots, and 80% with 1. I have no idea about the booster stats but that’s gotta make it worse.

Would be interesting to see the percentages by club. Because apparently Liverpool is 100% and in the past few days said they won’t even sign anyone who isn’t in January.
Not sure I believe it’s 100% but I bet it’s really close.Comment
