Gotze staying at Bayern despite them being very clear they don't intend to play him...

Why sign him in the first place? Was it really just a cynical move to weaken Dortmund?

Is he staying at Bayern or just keeping his options open for now? The only club that has actually come in with a serious bid for him so far is Liverpool. They don't have European football next year. He's going to get some playing time in the Euros, so he's probably just betting on himself to impress and get more offers.

I don't blame him one bit.

Why sign him in the first place?

Because at the time of signing for Bayern he was one of the most promising and exciting young talents in the world, and also German.

He's similar to TinTin in that he is at his best when the team is at least mildly structured around him. I do think Liverpool would be a good move for him though.

Gotze firing his agent because of even suggesting he might move to Liverpool should say enough about his prospects of going there. Lots of stories out there too saying Ancelotti wants him in his squad.

Browsing thru the Bayern reddit, a lot of their fans are saying he's featured a lot during Pep's tenure and it's only his recent injury and not being able to get back in the squad late in the season that has people perceiving he's not in the long-term picture for Bayern.
