Nothing from City, but Benfica released a statement. So it's not officially official yet...but getting there.

All they said was thank you to him on Twitter. Another few days yet.

I'm pretty sure the only reason we bought him in the first place is because Jose is a petty ******* who hates Liverpool and Salah was on the verge of joining them.

John Brooks to Wolfsburg

I like this move for Brooks and for Wolfsburg. It'd be fun to see Brooks play on the back line alongside Ricardo Rodriguez, but Rodriguez will be long gone sooner rather than later I'm guessing.

Still a good step up though. Hertha did very well this season but they are not a Europe-level club, and Wolfsburg definitely is. This season was a blip for both of those clubs.

My only question is whether or not Brooks could have gone to an even better EL/CL club than Wolfsburg. I do think he wanted to stay in Germany, which would explain this move much better. Dortmund, Bayern and RB don't need starting CBs, and the next best option to those three is almost always going to be Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg finished 2nd 2 seasons ago. I actually followed them pretty closely this year because - extremely random - they started an official US Twitter account this year and one of my good friends here in Duluth is the guy that runs it (along with a guy from California). There is no way that team should have been in the relegation playoff. They obviously lost KDB from that team that finished 2nd, but there's no reason they shouldn't be pushing the CL spots every season. Good move for Brooks.

Yep.

Wolfsburg has traditionally been one of the bigger teams.

They haven't won the league since 2008 but when you are in a league with Bayern that's pretty understandable. Dortmund is a pretty obvious second choice, but after that most of the time it has been Wolfsburg. Schalke has a tendency to be rather unstable, Leverkusen usually has good teams but they are basically the Buli version of Tottenham.

RB is obviously brand new, but their financial backing could see them rise quickly to the level of Dortmund and possibly even further.

Wolfsburg is honestly probably the next best choice after those three, and Brooks will be a starter.

Pretty sure that will never happen. I'm sure the Arsenal offer was there to show that we can underbid like a boss.
