It won't look that nuts if he has a great season and nice World Cup. He's been tearing it up in Brazil's team lately. Won't be surprised if this happens and they come with even more crazy bids next summer.

Re: The Transfer Thread
Personally, I think that if Coutinho doesn't go to Barca this season he won't go at all.
Just too many variables, Barca being desperate, and possibly even a board change before the season is out. Barca look like they will get Dembele, who imo will more than likely be an adequate replacement for Neymar in the next couple seasons. Once they do that, I suspect they will be feeling a bit less desperate, and probably less likely to want to spend 150m+ on a CM who hasn't even been playing CM for that long.
By next summer Barca could have a brand new board and a new direction, one that could realize spending that much money on Coutinho is nuts.Comment

Some sources saying the Key has handed in a transfer request
Some sources vehemently denying that.
Silly season is spectacular.

Re: The Transfer Thread
Well, apparently Coutinho really did hand in a transfer request. FSG says it changes nothing. Not selling no matter what. We'll see, but whichever way it goes, this is going to make a huge statement about our ambitions. Hope we make the right one.#LFC

I'm fine either way. Either keep a good player or get over £100 million for a player that cost £8.5 million. I just want tomorrow to get here so I can watch a game instead of this circus.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Looks like Mbappe really might go to PSG, really think that's a bad move for him.
At RM he'd have plenty of time to integrate into the squad with very little pressure since he'd be rotating regularly and would be seen as the future. Not to mention he'd be at his dream club playing with/for his two biggest idols (Ronaldo and Zidane).
At PSG though, for that much money and the monstrous wages he's asking, he will be expected to come flying out of the gates at just 18 years of age and perform at the very highest level all the time. There is going to be a crazy amount of pressure on PSG this season, and Mbappe's dad, who by all accounts is actually worse than Neymar's dad, is trying to throw his son to the wolves so he can get more money.Comment

Neymar-Cavani-Mbappe
front 3 with Draxler, Rabiout, and Verrati pulling the strings behind them is scary.
The fallout could be some nice scraps though.

Re: The Transfer Thread
IDK, Brahv. The pressure at RM will always be higher and CR7 can make life hell for anyone he doesn't like. He's only 18 so he has plenty of time to make a move to Real, unlike Coutinho who MUST GO NOW (lol). Even though he really only blew up after his UCL performances he still led the line for a title winning club and bagged 15 league goals. I think the pressure will be on Neymar more than him but the thought of a:

Also I have to disagree. Over the last 3 years Perez has turned RM into a really good place for young players. Zidane rotates a ton, and youngsters like Asensio, Kovacic, Vasquez, Varane, Morata, Carvajal etc. have all been able to develop while getting good game time and having very little pressure put on them.
The pressure on RM as a team is always high, but they have really turned around their culture since the Galactico days. Even Ronaldo is perfectly happy rotating and sitting out. He's not nearly as childish as he used to be, and he would be made well aware that he's Mbappe's idol, if he isn't already.
With the money PSG is spending + Neymar, the entire team and anyone involved is going to get roasted alive if they don't deliver this season. The pressure on PSG is going to be much greater than RM this time around.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
I think Mbappe would be just fine staying at Monaco this season and figuring out what's next after that. But with all this money being thrown around, why not I guess?!?
I may be in the minority here, but are Trapp and/or Areola good enough in the back to take PSG very far regardless of who all they sign? I guess they can just outscore everyone, but they need somone to come up with a big save eventually. If I was a PSG fan, I'd sure rather see the team spend a little on another goalkeeper and/or another defender for depth purposes.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Correct. Trapp and Areola are both pretty bad and definitely not CL Contenders quality, which is why PSG is after Oblak now.Comment

160m to play him out of position rofl. I know that's what they are planning on but still.

Oh I never disagreed or said anything about Real's new philosophy. They've been very astute in buying youth and playing them but none of those kids come with a 160mil price tag.
Idk, I think the pressure for Real, especially considering they've won 3 of the last 4, is always going to be crazy but I DEFINITELY see your point about PSG. I still think the majority of that is going to fall on Neymar's shoulders which is what he wants. Well, that and the 30 mil.Comment
