    Re: The Transfer Thread

That transfer will happen at some point, but not this year. Coutinho isn't going to go there and risk bench time and losing his spot on Brazil's team for the WC. Also, with what some of these guys are going for, that's not enough money for just-signed-a-5-year-deal Coutinho.

Honestly, this Neymar transfer will be interesting just to see the impact it has on the rest of the transfer window.

I'm for any transfer that means depleting Spurs.

Yeah he's probably closer to Iniesta but with more goals and less consistency.

I think very highly of Eriksen. Kane and Alli get all the headlines but Eriksen makes them go. I'm still mad we have him all that space to send in the cross that Alli scored on to end our winning streak.

        The Transfer Thread

Man City officially sign Danilo from Real. If the Mendy transfer goes through, that's close to 150 million spent on full backs alone this transfer window. Crazy.

So what about these rumors that PSG has contract agreements with both Neymar and Alexis Sanchez.

There's no way they get both of them, right???

I mean they'd probably still bottle the Champions League.

PSG has already shown they care very little about UEFA's FFP so I definitely wouldn't put it past them.

Plus they are absolutely desperate to become one of the big boys and win a CL.

Those 2 moves and keeping Verrati would put them in Tier 1 with Real, Barca, Bayern, and Juve IMO.

Still need a keeper than Trapp though.

You have to actually be a consistent threat for several seasons to be considered tier 1. We've got way more European pedigree than PSG and we were never super close to being a tier 1 team.

Barca, Bayern and RM are on a separate tier than everybody else. PSG has already shown they can still screw up with a team full of expensive stars.

Neymar wouldn't have stopped them from bottling that 6-1 game.

Oh no doubt. I was just talking about the chances of bringing home that European silverware next year.

Even more when Real pulls the trigger on Mbappe and Lemar goes to Arsenal.

Monaco is asking for like 80m for Lemar, don't see Arsenal paying that much

If Alexis ends up leaving, they'll have a little extra money. I can't tell if anyone is coming or going though with all the crazy news out there. I'm fairly new to the European summer transfer stuff (been watching for years but not hardcore until recently), and it's hard for me not to be online looking for the latest and greatest news right now. Haha

Apparently, Alexis to City is back in the news. I know how other sports work, but I'm not 100% sure on soccer contracts. If Alexis is only signed through this next season, he can walk for free next summer correct? Or does the team still own a certain share of his rights? I just can't see why they won't sell him and move on if he's definitely not returning next season. The same goes for a lot of other players in the news.

They have the money to do it without selling Alexis, I'm just saying I'd be shocked if they spent that much money on a single player. Replacing Alexis with Thomas Lemar would definitely be hilarious though.

Also yes, Alexis walks free next summer, which is part of the issue. They either sell him right now and get money, or try to convince him to at least put effort into this season and let him to wherever he wants for free next summer.

I can see why they are taking the stance they are taking tbh. They don't want to be a club that sells their best players anymore. It's been additionally embarrassing because they have regularly sold their best players to rival clubs in the same league. This one is probably the main focus, stopping the sale of good players to domestic rivals would be a positive step forward for Arsenal.

You obviously don't want to be known as a club who will keep their players even when they don't want to be there, but the problem has been, once again, the culture at Arsenal. For example, if a top player wants to leave Chelsea they already know they will have to leave the league. Players know Arsenal will sell to whoever, it's part of their current culture. The whole Alexis ordeal is seemingly an attempt to change that.
