Kulemin, Kessel, Caputi, and any other Leaf player couldn’t find a solution for Brodeur as the 2nd place Devs walk away with a 2 nothing win. Nothing went right, and I mean nothing.

“Crap, that’s all I have to say, Crap.”
What beautiful words from tough man Orr.

Two days off before the Hurricanes (17-15-2) stroll into town. Gustavsson (10-5, 1.96) will be the man in net. No other line changes.

Injury List:

MacArthur - Out with a separated shoulder on Dec 2nd, expected return Jan 4th.

Toronto:
Even a late 3rd period goal by Kulemin (Kessel achieved his 200th point of his career assisting on this goal) was not enough to spark a late game comeback, as the Hurricanes beat the Leafs 2 to 1. Centers with the last name Staal have not been nice to the Leafs scoring 4 goals against (Jordan 3 and Eric 1) so far this season.

“This is not the way I foresaw us going at the end of December. Hoping this two game skid will end with a win against the Jackets on the 30th, our last game of 2010.”
Team Captain Phaneuf was quoted after the game.

The Leafs finish 2010 with a game at home against the Jackets (16-15-5),
Giguere (11-8, 1.83 - already has more wins then last year) will man the pipes. No other line changes.

Injury List:

MacArthur - Out with a separated shoulder on Dec 2nd, expected return Jan 4th.

Another couple of losses hurts, and the offensive isn't getting off the ground. At least your getting current (by current, I mean 10.16.2010) Rocket Richard winner Clarke MacArthur back, which should be a somewhat boost on your offense.

At least Giguere and Gustavsson are playing solid, but the lack of offense will kill you playoff time.

Yeah I can't wait till he comes back, the secondary scoring will be helpful. If I can keep up the stellar goaltending and defense I should be okay.

In a borage of shots from the Leafs, only 2 (Phaneuf and Kessel’s SO winner) made it past the incredible Mason as he brushed aside 50 of 51 shots. The PP was only successful on 1 out of 9 but perfect on the PK.

Kessel was quoted saying. “Man he was a wall, it was like a concrete barrier stood behind him. We were lucky to get the win.”

Month report to follow.

Injury List:

MacArthur - Out with a separated shoulder on Dec 2nd, expected return Jan 4th.

I'd be happy you beat a Columbus team that's always good in NHL 11.

But 50 saves on 51 shots, holy ****. Steve Mason was just on another level.

It was incredible, he was a robot goalie.

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

December Update:

The Leafs went 9-4-0 in the month of December, scoring 26 goals and only allowing 20. The PP went 6/54 (11%) while the PK was 45/51 (88%).

The loss of MacArthur due to a separated shoulder was felt only slightly as Caputi chipped in 4 goals covering for him on the 2nd line. Kulemin’s 8 points (6 goals and 2 assists) and Giguere’s 5-2 record were the two best players of the month.

The Leafs enter the next 46 games with a 22-13-1 record for 45 pts and are still in the 3rd position in the East. Here are some current stats for the 2010-2011 season.

Activity/Management Up Dates:

With the Mitchell trade, another spot opens up on the roster. With two free spots the Leafs can now acquire additional talent cheap from the FA pool - sources close to Leaf Management have said that FA D-man Bergeron (Had 7 ppgs last year) has been courted and that a deal is close to happening, stay tuned.

Komisarek is still a Leaf unfortunately as no deals have materialized. Coaching staff have tried to spark the big d-man by slotting him on the 1st and 2nd pairing but he is still a -8 and is continuously out of position. What is his future, Leaf-Waived-Traded?

MacArthur, out since Dec 2, is expected back for the home game against the Blues on the 6th, he will most likely take his usual spot on the 2nd line - while Caputi (7 goals so far for the big Leafs) will most likely be headed back to the Marlies.

January Leaf Line-up

Versteeg-Grabovski-Kulemin
Caputi (MacArthur)-Bozak-Kessel
Sjostrom-Hanson-Armstrong
Brown-Mitchell-Orr

Beauchemin-Phaneuf
Komisarek-Kaberle
Schenn-Lebda

Giguere-Gustavsson
