The Calgary Flames made their first ever trip into Boise tonight to take on the surprisingly 2-0-0 Boise Huskies. It didn't seem that Calgary entirely expected what was thrown at them in the first by Boise. The forecheck and puck movement was fantastic for the Huskies. The Flames were really not able to get anything going and it showed on the stat sheet. The Huskies outshot the Flames 12-3 after the first and it would seem that Calgary would successfully weather the storm but with 2.8 seconds left in the first Darren Helm found some space on a 3 on 2 rush and blew a slapper past the blocker of the goaltender Backstrom giving them a 1-0 lead after one period.
The 2nd period started with more of the same as the Huskies came out strong and fast. Backstrom was the only reason this game wasn't out of hand just yet. After Backstrom made a fabulous save on a 2-0 against the Huskies were gifted a powerplay for a strong forecheck. Boise had the best powerplay coming into this game. And they went to work right off the faceoff. They did not score on this powerplay they did gain quite a bit of momentum. Justa few minutes later a nice little give and go out of the corner lead to a goal by Chris Neil to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. After that goal the Huskies would finally get rewarded a little more often in this one. They potted 2 more goals in the final 5 minutes of the 2nd to give them a 4-0 lead after 2 periods. Price just looked bored in the Huskies zone as he has only faced 6 shots through these 2 periods.
Curtis Sanford took his place between the pipes for the 3rd as it seems Backstrom was benched more because of the way his team was playing in front of him more then the amount of goals he allowed. And this showed more and more with Sanford in the net as the Huskies kept the pressure on. The Flames were able to get on the board a few minutes into the period but that would be the only offense they would muster. The Huskies would tack on 2 more before this one came to an end in Idaho. 6-1 Huskies was the final in this one.

There is an option for Puck Trail in the visual settings. I have it set to a Speed trail. Red = harder shots, blue = weaker shots. And I love my goaltending tandem.

Lucky Bounce Forces Overtime, Huskies Extend Streak to 5
The Anaheim Ducks made their first trip to Idaho of this season and they came out with some strong energy. This energy that they brought got the better of the Huskies in the first half of the opening period. The Huskies got caught scrambling and ended up on a 5 on 3 penalty kill. Wojtek Wolski was able to score on the 2nd half of the powerplay to give the Ducks an early 1-0 lead. It would appear that the Huskies had tied the game just minutes later when a shot went off of Ryan Miller and banked into the net off of Janick Hansen except it was ruled no goal because it was batted in by his hand. The Huskies carried that momentum for a little bit but another penalty would put an end to that. The 3rd penalty of the period would end up in a goal against as well. In the final minute of the period as well. After one it was 2-0 Ducks.
The Ducks started the 2nd period on the powerplay which was nothing new at this point. The Huskies had the better result on this power play though as Rick Nash was able to take a pretty drop pass in the Anaheim zone and ripped a slapper glove side for the shorthanded goal. After killing yet another penalty the Huskies were able to even the score when Chris Neil found a loose puck in front of the net and slid it past Miller to tie it. After a rather uneventful 2nd half of the 2nd period this game is tied at 2 after 2.
The Ducks would show they were ready for the 3rd with a goal just 30 seconds to give them another 1 goal lead, 3-2. The early minutes of the 3rd would prove to be explosive as the Huskies would tie the game just 2 minutes after the Ducks re-captured the lead. James Van Riemsdyk sniped Miller short side on the rush for the tying goal. The period would calm down for a few minutes before Ponikarovsky would give the Ducks the lead once again on a pretty back door one-timer. Then with 24 seconds left and the goalie pulled the Huskies would benefit from a lucky bounce off the Anaheim d-man that would find its way past the goalie to force overtime in Idaho.
The overtime was the reverse of the regulation periods as the Huskies dominated from the opening puck drop. After a minute or so of constant pressure Rick Nash was able to sneak a backhander past Miller for the game winner. The Huskies are now up to 5-0-0 to start the season.

On top of the puck trail, how did you get it so that the game tells you where to be defensively? I see an arrow pointing for where you need to be when you are out of position.
There is also an option in the visual settings called Forechecking Guide Notifications. Just turn that on and it will show you where you should be on the ice depending on which player you are playing as.
After coming from behind in the last game against Anaheim and winning in overtime the Huskies look to extend their winning streak to 5 against a Nashville Predators team that has gotten off to a great start sitting at 5-2-0 so far this young season. Jimmy Howard has been solid in the pipes for the so far and was strong in this one as well but his efforts were not enough. James Van Riemsdyk scored his 2nd goal of the year with just under a minute to play in the 3rd to break the 2-2 tie and extend Boise's winning streak to 5. Price was excellent in net once again stopping 23/26 shots in this one. The 3rd line for Boise was the key in this one, netting 2 goals (Madden and Neil).
The Huskies look to extend this streak to 6 games against the Los Angeles Kings next.
