When the Saskatchewan Broncos take in the Montreal Canadiens in Elgar Petersen Arena, they'll have to do so without alternate Captain and #1 defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who is out until November 6 with a pulled groin.

Many were wondering who was going to okay with Alexander Edler. The front runner appears to be Sami Vatenen, but Ethan Bear is also a potential option.

In net, the team will go with Corey Crawford while Montreal will go with backup Linus Ullmark over starter Carey Price.

POWERPLAY PROVES FATAL TO CANADIENS; RAANTA STANDS TALL

After a last minute emergency forced Antti Raanta into the started role, he turned aside 52 shots to help the Saskatchewan Broncos defeat the Montreal Canadiens 6-4

Starter Corey Crawford had an emergency and was unable to arrive to the rink on time. Jusse Saros was dressed as his backup

Saskatchewans powerplay proved particularly effective, going 3 for 3. That proved enough to overcome a particularly tense 3rd period.

Next up is the New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightning and October 25 & 26.

HAMILTON HOSTS CLEVELAND; HEAVYWEIGHTS CLASH

The Hamilton Red Wings, 9-1-1, will host the equally strong Cleveland Monsters, 10-1-0, it'll be Goliath vs Goliath.

Hamilton, lead by Dylan Gambrells 6 goals & 10 points, have also got key contributions from depth forwards J.T. Brown (8 assists, 10 points) & Jayce Hawryluk (4 goals, 8 points). Rookie forward Semyon Der-Arguchintsev will play his first game in the AHL, playing on the second line

In net, Hamilton boasts one of the strongest pairings in the AHL. Backup Adam Werner, who will get the start tonight vs Cleveland, is a whopping 5-0-0 to start the season, including 2 Shutouts for an impressive 1.77 GAA. Starter Samuel Montembeault is 4-1-1 with a shutout and a 1.98 GAA

Cleveland's offense is heavily dependent on the top line of Nathan Gerbe (4-8-12), Liam Foudy (5-8-13) & Zac Dalpe (5-8-13). Rookie Kai Niskala has 5 goals and 8 points.

In net, the team has relied on starter Alex Nedeljkovic frequently. He's 9-1-0 with 3 shutouts. He also boasts an extremely impressive .946 Save Percentage and a 1.50 Goals Against Average.

But the Monsters will instead start veteran backup Brad Thiessen. Thiessen, 34, is 1-0-0 with a .875 Save Percentage and a 3.24 Goals Against Average - not exactly stellar numbers.

DER-ARGUCHINTSEV SCORED TWO; RED WINGS EDGE CLEVELAND

Rookie Semyon Der-Arguchintsev looked ready to play, scoring the teams first two goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead en route to a 5-4 Hamilton victory over the Cleveland Monsters.

After Cleveland took a 1-0 lead in the first courtesy of Terry Fix-Wolansky, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev got the team in the board and in the lead with two quick goals.

Hamilton would score 2 more goals compared to Cleveland's 1 in the second period. Cleveland would tie the game at 4, before Dylan Gambrell would score the game winner with 14 seconds left in the game to take the victory 5-4.

HAMILTON HOSTS IOWA; SMID, GILBERT TO MAKE RED WINGS DEBUTS

The Hamilton Red Wings (10-2-1) will rest two of it's veterans and substitute them with two more veterans as they take on the 3-7-3 Iowa Wild. Defensemen Roman Polak and Trevor Daley will be given a maintenance day and veterans Ladislav Smid and Tom Gilbert will take their places in the third pairing

In net, the Red Wings will turn to Samuel Montembeault, who is 4-2-1. Iowa will likely counter with Dereck Baribeau.
