Re: Best of the Best Roster for PC

Been playing a tournament in Play Now mode and making corrections when I see something off. The first 5 games went by smoothly, although I did spot some things that needed worked on and got them fixed. However the 6th game with the Broncos @49ers kept locking up whenever Denver would have to kickoff. Actually the kicker just wouldn't kick the ball and I couldn't do anything in the game and had to manually close the program. I was about to pull my hair out with frustration trying to find a fix but something I did fixed it as I was finally able to complete a game. I should have been more scientific about it to figure out exactly what fixed it but I'm just glad it's working again. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a roster problem or something else?

Hopefully there wont be any more of those type of problems pop up. I did u/l a new version in case others are experiencing this as well.

Re: Best of the Best Roster for PC

Just watched an exciting shootout between the 2009 Saints and 1991 Bills. Norwood missed a FG to win the game with 5 seconds left, and Brees some how missed a wide open receiver in the back of the end zone to win it in OT, but the D held the Bills to win 41-38.
QB
Kelly 25-42-397-3
Brees 24-33-361-2
Top RB's
T.Thomas 16-76-0
P.Thomas 18-72-1
Top Receivers
A. Reed 5-107-1
D. Beebe 5-113-0
R. Meachem 7-132-1
D.Henderson 4-111-0
Waaay too many sacks in the game tho despite both teams having pretty decent pass blocking line. Surprisingly Bruce Smith didn't have any tho. Was by far the most sacks I've seen yet. 14 total. Many were the QB running into the sack. Ah well... that's Madden for yah.

I'm also noticing a false start is called almost every time when it's 1st and goal from the 3 yard line or closer. I'm close to disabling that penalty.. it's called a ton and I have it set at 20. Will have to lower it again.

tommycoa mentioned that weather has an effect on the game and that clear sky games tends to cause the offenses to go crazy. Well that appears to be the case here. The most offense I've seen yet in the tourney. I was playing 11 minute qtrs with 25 second runoff.

Re: Best of the Best Roster for PC

Just finished with the 1986 Giants vs the 1998 Falcons game, 2 teams that finished reg season 14-2. The Giants offense struggled and usually had to settle for FG's instead of TD's and they ended up losing 23-15. The Falcons advance. I may have chosen a poor offense for them as Bavaro only had 2 catches and wasn't targeted much and he was a big part of the 86 Giants offense. I'll look into it. The Giants only got 2 sacks against a less than stellar pass blocking team, and got zero from Lawrence Taylor.
QB
Chandler 16-26-249-1-0
Simms 20-39-236-1-1
Top RB's
J.Anderson 19-85-1
J.Morris 12-58-0
Top Receivers
O.Santiago 5-88-0
B.Johnson 6-106-0
Defensive Stars
L.Marshall 2 sacks
L.Archambeau 1 sack
W.White 10 tackles
L.Taylor 9 tackles
O.Brown 1 Int

Went to 10min qtrs/25sec run off this time. Still trying to decide what's the best setting for accurate stats.

Re: Best of the Best Roster for PC

It's a day of Madden. This game was between the 72 Dolphins and the 00 Titans, a underrated team, and it was a close one throughout. Despite 4 turnovers the Dolphins held on to a 27-27 tie, and my rules are the higher rated team moves forward on a tie. Will have to look into the carrying rating for my QB's as it seems there are far too many fumbles on sacks.

QB
B.Griese 24-36-233-1-2
S.McNair 25-32-232-1-1
Top RB's
M.Morris 20-93-0
L.Csonka 7-29-1(need to figure out how to get him more carries when computer runs the game. I currently have him slotted as #2 HB as well as starting FB. Will probably need to lower Morris stamina rating a bit.)
E.George 25-83-0
Top WR's
M.Fleming 5-49-0
P.Warfield 4-63-0
Y.Thigpen 7-91-0
F.Wycheck 5-34-1
Top Defense
V.Herder 2 sacks 6 Tkls
T.Foley 10 Tkls
N.Bouniconti 10 Tkls
J.Kearse 1 sack 7 Tkls
B.Bishop 14 Tkls

Re: Best of the Best Roster for PC

Would be nice to see the 1984 49ers on the team list. 15-1, and lost their single game by a field goal with a controversial pass interference call. Also blew out the 14-2 Dan Marino 48 touchdown pass Dolphins in the Super Bowl.

But the Craig/Rathman/Rice 49ers team had more star power, if not as much insane depth.

EDIT- this is great work, of course.

Re: Best of the Best Roster for PC

The 84 49ers team is indeed very good, one of the best ever, but 89 team was also very good and I had to go with the team with Rice on it.

Thanks for the kind words. It'll only get better as it still needs tweaking. I'll be uploading another update after I finish the 1st round of the tourney and fix all the things I didn't like which may be tomorrow.

BTW the 89 49ers team pounded the 98 Broncos 35-3 in the 1st round. Elway had one of his early Super Bowl performances.. I think he threw 4 Int's. Really bad game for him.
