2009 Saints vs 2013 Seahawks
The 1st half the D would dominate, with the Saints scoring the only TD, and the Seahawks having to kick FG's, ending the half with Seattle up 9-7. Lynch started to dominate in the 3rd, finally getting some good runs, and the Seahawks would score a TD from a 13 yard pass to Davis from Wilson, and they converted the 2 pointer, up 17-7. New Orleans would slowly move back down the field on their next possession but would be held to a FG with 3:44 to go thinking they'd have another shot. Seattle's O would prove other wise as they used a time consuming run oriented drive, picking up crucial 3rd downs when needed, to eat up the rest of the clock and win 17-10.

Well crud, there was about 4 minutes left in the 1985 Bears vs 2007 Patriots semi final game and for the 1st time the game crashed. :/ Patriots were up 24-20 in a good game at that point... yugh, I don't feel like replaying it right now.. maybe later today.

1985 Bears vs 2007 Patriots
Unlike the 1st game that crashed, this one was all Patriots. They took the early lead and would maintain and then extend it in the 2nd half. Patriots win 34-10. Unlike the 1st game Payton never got going, really stunting the Bears offense and the powerful D didn't show up. These two teams may still meet again in the championship game as this is just the Bears 1st loss. They will be facing 2013 Seattle for that opportunity.

1985 BEARS VS 2013 SEAHAWKS
The 1st half was completely dominated by the Bears who scored on every possession but one, mostly FG's, and that was a fumble that Seattle converted into 3 points. I'm not sure how many yards the Seahawks had at the half but around 4 minutes left they only had 13 total yards. The Bears lead 13-3 at the half. Chicago was actually in good position to kick a FG with 11 seconds remaining but as often is the case the AI botched the time management and they ran out of time when McMahon got sacked. The 2nd half started off very badly for the Bears with a quick pick 6 that closed the gap to 3. The Bears marched back down the field but once again were forced to kick a FG, now up 16-10. The Seahawks still were not able to do much offensively but another turnover by McMahon would lead to a TD for Seattle, ending the 3rd quarter up for the 1st time 17-16. The Bears would kick another FG, and the Seahawks would score what would be the final TD and win the game 24-19 in a game they were dominated statistically, with the Bears having 469 yards to their 200. 2013 Seahawks vs 2007 Patriots in the championship match!

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
2013 SEAHAWKS VS 2007 PATRIOTS
Some games seem pre-determined when everything goes wrong for one team and everything goes right for the other. That would be the case for this game. Brady was missing wide open receivers, balls were being dropped(I'll give some credit to the tough Seattle D for some of those), fumbles(mostly on sacks), penalties, a fg attempt blocked and for Seattle it was two 70+ yard runs by Lynch, and Wilson was completing a high % of his passes, especially on 3rd down. The Patriots were 3 for 13 on 3rd down attempts. Seattle ended the 1st half up 20-3 and coasted from there on, the final was 33-6. Fortunately for the Patriots this is a double elimination tourney and this is their 1st loss, so Seattle will have to win again to be the champion.

FINAL GAME
2013 SEAHAWKS VS 2007 PATRIOTS
For the Patriots this was pretty similar to the first game offensively, except even worse, with Brady throwing 3 int's, 5 dropped passes, including a big one late in the game and were only 2-12 on 3rd downs, compared to the Seahawk's 8-16. However their D came to play this time creating 3 turnovers themselves and making things difficult for Seattle. The first half score was 6-0 Seahawks... a very defensive battle. The 2nd half started off pretty much the same with New England finally adding 3 points of their own. It was the 4th quarter where the offenses started to click with Seattle driving for their first TD, and the Patriots responding with one of their own. New England would kick a FG to tie the game 13-13 with 2:13 remaining and then would hold Seattle to a 3 and out with good field position. They'd have 1st and 10 on the Seahawks 45 yard line with 50 seconds remaining, but what do they do? 3 run plays in a row..(the 1 min o in this game is pretty horrendous) and if it wasn't for the decent run on 3rd down they wouldn't have even been in FG range. However they are now barely within Gostkowski's range and get the kick off to win the game... but it hits the left upright, no good! OT, New England receives and the 1st pass play is to a wide open TE Watson 20 yards down the field who drops the ball(2nd drop). The 2nd pass Brady misses completely, 3rd pass is knocked down. Punt. Seattle's offense is clicking but near midfield Wilson's pass is intercepted by Bruschi and now New England is in good shape, however Brady throws his 3rd interception the very next play. Seattle quickly gets the ball to the Patriots 30 and then 3 plays later kick the game winner, 16-13. 2013 Seattle Seahawks is the first double elimination tourney winner!

If I ever do this tourney again I think I'm going to keep afc teams on 1 side of the bracket and nfc on the other and will go single elimination. I used their SRS rating from pro-football-reference.com to rank the teams in the tourney and seeded them according to that. Anyway hope you enjoyed the tournament, it didn't go quite like I thought but I think both teams in the final were solid teams, both highly ranked. Pats were the #1 and Seattle was #6. It also helped me tweak the teams and spot any obvious errors as I went through the games.
