Re: Pass Coverage and Pass Reaction

Just from messing around with sliders, it seems like the interception slider has more of an impact on coverage then either of them...

Yes it do. It's been like that for years. They react to the ball better the higher you raise it.

A part of me wonders if we’ve been messing with the wrong thing... like maybe it might more sense to start coming up with a formula for QB ratings that we adjust before the game and then revert back after...

For example
Leave sliders default since we have no idea WTF does what

Take QB accuracy and subtract 30 points from each range, take throw under press under shbtract 50, etc etc

Then hopefully things like awareness and throwing power stand out more

Very good idea for sure.

I am convinced that the player ratings, and now Traits, make more of a difference than the sliders. I think QB Acc is really an awareness setting. The higher you put it, the better decisions the QB will make. The key to getting realistic play on the field is to edit the QB short, medium, and long ratings. You have to make them pretty low to get consistent 50-65% completion rates for games.

I am working on a 1970 roster and I am using this method. My QB ACC setting is at 50 for the slider. For the better QBs, my QB Awareness rating is over 88 and into the low-mid 90's. The poorer QBs can have that rating as low as 75 which leads to poorer decisions on where to throw the ball. The throw accuracy ratings (short, medium, long) determine completion rates.

I continue to believe that EA rosters have players over rated which makes for higher scoring games and QBs who seem unstoppable. To me, ratings have been the key to realism. Oh yeah, add to that Playbooks because that also determines a team's and QBs success rate. Playbooks is a real important part of the mix, but since you can't really use custom books, it is hard to combat poor play selection and overpowered or underpowered plays.

I do think this is the best course of action at this point... I have no idea where to begin because I’m not really sure how the hell these slider gurus break this stuff down lol

But I will admit, I’m working on trying to finally fix the playbooks because it’s starting to become predictable what the CPU is calling

Playcalling is the biggest thing for me that's holding the game back (well besides them saying the delay is fixed on other game speeds which it's not). I feel like the PA shot plays have taken over 3/4 qtrs of the playbook and the constant cpu blitzing. The shot plays seem more overdone than last yr if you can believe it.

Both are extremely overdone

Defensive books are much easier to fix because there is only so many plays

It’s the offensive books that are really frustrating to create because you only get like 18 formations and about 140 plays to input otherwise the game crashes from I’m assuming memory overload..: so trying to narrow down which plays without making each team become boring is the challenge

Yeah, I know that sucks. All I'm asking for out of EA is variation in the playcalling & plays. Tough task to ask apparently coming from a company that has been making football games since the early 90's.....
