Re: The State of Madden Franchise

I think with the current systems we have here's a few things that could make things more enjoyable...

Remove true talent grade from prospects
Make all players hidden dev
Move regression period to minicamp
Make a minicamp week instead of during week 1 preseason
CPU teams get scenarios and training camp
Add a free agency period after draft for UDFAs
Make scenarios show up in news feed

Coaching trees should be universal or have universal talents. An OC that becomes a HC currently brings no perks or talents to the role which is just wrong.

Re: The State of Madden Franchise

what Franchise needs

1 Liquid ratings - now under the hood it could be a set number but i saw this in ncaa 2005 and it made a diff

u could call this the Russell Wilson rule lol

other than that i agree with most everyone else here

Melodicmarc makes a few good points in his post (thanks for the depth and detail) but one that stood out to me that would really transform resign decisions was successful implimentation of compensation picks for former free agents (I'll add restricted free agent tags too). Get that in and letting good veterans walk becomes a strategy for declining teams or turning young superstars into 1st or 2nd rounders when they didn't resign earlier does too.

Re: The State of Madden Franchise

1. An approval rating from staff, players, media, the owner, and fans. Monitor them all of get fired. Owner wants a franchise QB in the first round of the draft, GM wants a seasoned vet. Who can you afford to disagree with?

2. Wear and tear injury system.

3. Coach mode needs to be expanded to include more stuff than just picking plays, instead of a setting it could be listed as it's own new mode without much work added. It should include playbook knowledge, learning, and intangible attributes.

4. See below.

NFL Head Coach 09 had a "Play Steal" feature.

CPU teams stole your successful plays in your playbook and added them to their playbooks. That feature met with college playbooks from incoming college coaches and user created plays birthed a new meta evolution for playcallers across the NFL.

The comp picks would be extremely easy to implement based on total dollar amount of FAs brought in vs lost in FA.

This is akin to what I've been asking for awhile where every decision has a consequence. Every action has a reaction from the players, assistant coaches, owner, GM, media and fans. The user needs to feel the full weight of their decisions in franchise mode.

Absolutely, but if EA goes that route again they'll need to do a better job than they did with HC09. The on field play calling approval changes were terrible, almost game breaking. It was completely normal to lose 5-10 total approval points for punting on 4th down, this is an issue I think EA would botch again.

Re: The State of Madden Franchise

Reviving this thread just to show some appreciation for Madden 24. Brief expansion for this version in the second post.

TLDR: This Madden is the best there's been but it can be better.
