Re: Madden NFL 24 Patch Available Today - Patch Notes

Seems like they got a lot in this patch. I’m happy with the results. Could always ask for more, but this is pretty substantial.

Interested to see how quarters works going forward.

I was hoping they fixed all the red zones in playbook with other situations missing.

STILL no Sam Howell scan despite Clint saying it would be in by week 1.

Also noticed they still haven't fixed the glitched jerseys on Sideline players. Some players have no names on the back of their jerseys, some jerseys are discolored, etc.
I think the biggest issue is that players have no avoidance logic when running routes. Call a screen or a route where the TE runs across the formation and they get stuck so easily running in place. They don't make any attempts to navigate the traffic.

And Clint specifically mentioned on Twitter that they disabled lower body physics to avoid tripping and falling while going back to the huddle.

I'm kind of disappointed that more face scans weren't put in, but there were some game breaking bugs that were squashed at least.

Wow I didn't know Clint said that. That's a very poor design choice. I would much rather have players occasionally trip over each other than to just clip & step through body parts. The collision detection post play was working fine in 23. I don't understand why they went this route & purposely choose the have player clipping. This kills immersion. Instead of just allowing player clipping, how about fix player avoidance & awareness on the field smh.

I specifically tried starting a new franchise with the "Use Active Roster" roster import option. Micah Parsons lost his Dual Threat X-Factor ability, it was replaced by Unstoppable Force (his previous assignment on the base roster before today's update). Similarly, Jason Kelce didn't have any Superstar ability in the slot where on the base roster he now has Linchpin.

Additionally there are now new tiles in the ability edit UI in the franchise player card to assign the new abilities.
My guess is they will be corrected tomorrow for franchise via the next roster update.

I'm kinda there with ya.

On defaults, I do think there needs to be a bit more risk-reward for things like using undisciplined players or in-game using mechanics like fake hikes, aggressive blocking coach adjustments and so on. At the current baseline levels, there really is no significant risk.

To arbitrarily hike-up the levels simply to "match real life" for no reason other than "to match real life" is not something I am particularly interested in.

Obviously, the sliders need to work properly for those that desire a different experience.
