Re: How's your Connected Franchise going? - Madden 15 Editon

Finished my first game with the a Ravens. Lost pretty bad 38-13 to the Bengals.
Dalton was unstoppable with 5 TDs and over 300 yards. Flacco looked bad, had multiple throws that where WAY off. Two INTs to go along with those crappy throws.

Defense was un-impressive. Dalton had all day, DBs were a step behind every time. Bernard rarely went down with the first tackler.

Next game up is the Steelers, who are 1-0.

Re: How's your Connected Franchise going? - Madden 15 Editon

Update: Preseason Game 2

Cardinals @ Vikings

Cardinals win 45-21

Battles:

Cassel 10/19, 106yds, TD
Bridgewater 9/14, 150yds, TD
Ponder 11/15, 116yds

Breakdown: Honestly no change here. Still an open competition with the upper hand going to Cassel. Just like in real life he hasn't done much wrong and while Bridgewater has inflated stats, he's facing a lot of bums. Final Decision will come after Week 3, I think I'll alternate two series a piece for the two through the 3rd quarter. Ponder has played well but most of his production has come off of dump offs and screens.

Asiata 20att,44yds TD; 2rec, 21yds, TD
McKinnon 9att, 18yds; 2rec, 18yds
Banyard 3att, 5yds; 1rec, 20yds

Breakdown: Again no change. Keeping Peterson out of preseason and Asiata is running away with the backup roll. Didn't have much room to run against the Cards but he is a power guy and runs hard. McKinnon is an explosion guy and he's been impressive too, could see some time this year. Banyard probably will make team but won't see much if any action.

Simpson 6rec, 68yds
Smith 6rec, 97yds
Wright No receptions

Breakdown: Would take a miracle for Rodney Smith to move passed Jerome Simpson in the slot, but he has pretty assuredly taken that 4th receiver spot. With Simpson facing a 3-game suspension though Smith may see a lot of time in the slot. Wright has really been unimpressive this preseason and I'm going to pick up Kashif Moore (I'm a UConn guy) this week to battle Wright out for that last receiver spot the next two weeks.

On Defense I keep getting picked apart. Anthony Barr is definitely going to start over Hodges at the strong side linebacker. Sharrif Floyd over Fred Evans at DT to go alongside Linval Joseph. Still looking for anyone to take that 3rd corner spot behind Captain Munnerlyn and Xavier Rhodes.

Did a Sim franchise with new england, here's some notes

Talk about some bizzaro goings on the bills went 12-4 and Jacksonville went 10-6, my team went 9-7 missing the playoffs, on that subject the seahawks missed the playoffs with a 7-9 record, also in what could be seen as shocking the ravens went 6-10 the Bengals and Bears went 4-12 respectfully, granted the Bengals lost Dalton and AJ Green to injury and your bottom dwellers of the season with a glorious record of 1-15 are the Oakland Raiders, bust those paper bags out

Now on to MVP award and some stats, your MVP of this Sim is... Mr Omaha himself Peyton "I shill Direct TV" Manning with Brees, Stafford, EJ Manuel and Lesean McCoy rounding out the top five, coach of the year is Doug Marrone.

The top five QBs are as follows based on yards thrown, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Matt Stafford, Johnny Manziel and Nick Foles

Now the top five yard getters for RBs and wideouts, for RBs we got Lesean McCoy, Jamall Charles, Alfred Morris, Zack Stacy and Matt Forte, Wideouts we have Marques Colston, Demaryius Thomas, Andre Johnson, Antonio Brown and Calvin Johnson

Defensively Robert Mathis leads the way with 25 sacks while Jarius Byrd leads the way for INTs at 9

In the AFC Peyton Manning and Justin Houston are the offensive and defensive players of the year, and the rookies of the year in the AFC are Blake Bortles and Jadeveon Clowney, NFC players of the year are Lesean McCoy and Julius Peppers, the rookies of the year in the NFC are Carlos Hyde and LaMarcus Joyner. Your Super bowl champs are the broncos over San Francisco 27-13

Angry Re: How's your Connected Franchise going? - Madden 15 Editon

Just to confirm my fears, I entered CFM, owner mode, with the Jaguars. I played one season (mostly simming) and went 13-3 and made it to the divisional round of the playoffs. The team rose significantly in popularity. However, I barely finished with team funds over $0. I spent the offseason very conservatively retaining players and signed a few low dollar free agents. I played another season, went 10-6, and won a wild card round game.

I finished that season with NEGATIVE $20 million in team funds. Attendance was still quite poor.

Here's my frustration - even winning an unreasonable amount of games to expect a rebuilding team to win, and doing whatever I could with ticket prices and on the field to try to get people out to the games, I ended up, 2 years in, having to go an entire offseason without being able to re-sign anyone, sign free agents, or pretty much anything, because of the negative team funds.

This was a problem in Madden 25, but if you won games at least, it was mitigated a bit. In 15, it seems to be even more difficult.

If the "team funds" dynamic were turned off (because let's face it, it's ridiculous to play a game that thinks that teams 'run out' of money), Owner Mode would be a lot of fun to play, because you'd have the franchise dynamics plus attempt to make money for your team. But since negative team funds completely destroy your chances of doing anything, it's a losing battle to play as a small market or rebuilding team.

Sure, I could start one with a team that's already great and popular, but where's the fun in that?

Playing in Coach Mode is too basic, with none of the Owner Mode features.

Why has EA decided to make this harder, rather than address the fact that you run up into a brick wall if you're a small market or rebuilding (read: losing) team? What if you're a Jaguars fan, or a Rams fan, or whatever, that wants to keep your team in your city, and literally can't do it? There's no balance here.

Has anyone else experienced this? How can I get EA's attention about my concerns with it?

Finished my 1st season as the Bucs earlier today. I made it to the playoffs, but lost to San Francisco pretty bad. It was a good first year, but couldn't resign a lot of my starters, so I'm rebuilding hard this year. Currently have Terrelle Pryor as my starting QB. I am 5-3 so far in season 2 and currently leading the Saints.

I started with the bucs also. But I dumped a lot of the big cap hitters. I got the $48M free space right now. Dumping the backup QB alone was $5M. Can't remember the name right now.

Re: How's your Connected Franchise going? - Madden 15 Editon

I spent the release day trying to find a squad, and eventually found my groove with the 'Skins. Played my first game as a coach against New England in the preseason, the game was very balanced despite the fact that I lost 20-18. Ryan Mallet was carving my defense but Colt McCoy stepped in and stepped up once Kirk Cousins went down with an injury.
