Can you sim game by game in CFM or do you need 32 team user control?

Also a question that was mentioned earlier, what happens if you cut all rosters down to 53 before entering CFM? Will this avoid odd/strange CPU Cuts during Pre Season?

How do I control more than one team in career/franchise mode? My friend and I like to do 2 player franchises.
