Re: Madden 17 wishlist

Free Range Editing For CFM
Madden 12 was my favorite madden of all time, because it let me do this one simple task: editing rosters completely in franchise mode.
If a player like Andrew Luck was drafted and he may have been a 71 overall, and a guy like Brandon Weeden is an 81 overall, I could go in and make Andrew Luck and Brandon Weeden reflect their real attributes. Not only could I edit Brandon Weedens' overall, but I could edit him to his real age. When he was drafted he was 28, not the typical 21-23 year old that players are out of draft classes.

To add to this the ability to edit draft classes. I should be able to go into my CFM and edit any player to how I want. Whether that is me adding real prospects from the draft, adding myself, or making super human players. Either way, it shouldn't matter, because it is my CFM.

Editing coaches- I hate that I can't do anything about "NE Coach". I want to edit coaches so they reflect real life.

Assistant Coaches
Why is this not a thing anymore? NCAA 13 had this, and it is a 4 years older and on an inferior console.

I am sick of seeing recycled head coaches. Time to get real coaches involved

Make coaching matter
The only thing that seems to have an impact on your team for coaching is the scheme and playbook.

Recently Madden added perks like the ability to gain more XP to improve players, scouting, become a master trader, and all of that. However, it really doesn't capture the difference in coaching such as the difference between Gary Kubiak and John Fox, or Jim Tomsula and Jim Harbuagh.

Re: Madden 17 wishlist

Been playing a lot of Be a GM mode in NHL 16 lately, and there are some things in that which I would love to see a version of in Madden.

Morale

Players abilities are affected by their morale, which can changes by a number of factors. Playing time, roster moves, recent performance (for better/worse), recovering from an injury, and team and individual meetings with players all affect how they feel.

We already have a similar, albeit "broken" confidence system in the game - I would love to see it replaced or fixed with something like NHL's morale system.

Potential

In NHL, there are essentially three pieces to a player's potential:

1) The player's projected potential - can be seen by you, states what the "best guess" for what role (i.e. Starter, backup, elite, franchise, etc.) the player will fill at the peak of their career. They may not be at their potential yet, but this is what we think they will be.

2) Projection confidence - our level of confidence in the projection. We may project a guy as an "Elite" player, but only have medium confidence in that projection. The more the player is scouted or the longer they play in the league, the more confident we are in that projection (and the projection might change as we learn more avout him!)

3) The players's true potential - we cannot see this until our projection confidence is "Exact", meaning we know for a fact what this guy's potential is. Again, this can be accomplished by a combination of scouting or simply experience with the player.

So in the case of Madden, we could have guys coming out of the draft like:

Jamarcus Russell -
projected = Elite QB
confidence = Low
true = 3rd String QB

Russell Wilson -
projected = Backup
confidence = Low
true = Elite

A few years into their careers, they may look like:

Jamarcus Russell -
projected = 3rd string QB
confidence = high
true = 3rd string QB

Russell Wilson -
projected = Elite
confidence = Exact
true = Elite

Under the hood, both QB's true potential was always the same, it just takes a while for us to know, with confidence what their potential actually is.

I wrote something on this a while back. But potential is really overlooked.

Please please please fix receivers running out of bounds when there's tons of room to turn up field

I think the trickiest part about incorporating such a system is how to integrate it with the XP progression system. I'm assuming they will not do away with the XP system... which is primarily based on on-the-field performance (and that should be a big part of progression!). The player development trait currently acts as a multiplier on XP earned from accomplishing tasks.

I think the XP you get should be set up as follows:

-50% based on accomplishing tasks/game prep, no potential/development modifier

-50% based on the player's "true" potential. The player gets x many points per y amount of time elapsed, regardless of what happens.

There is still an issue with the unknown aspect of potential here, since you could monitor the amount of XP a player is getting through this process and quickly know what the true potential is though. I don't know what the solution to that is.

I completely agree.

So many things factor into a players potential.

True talent potential- is that player done growing physically?

Experience/ accomplishments- it's simple, the more experience a player has, the more they'll grow.

Coaching/ system- is a coach going to get the most out of that player, Cana coach develope players. Just my opinion, but Tom Brady isn't Tom Brady without his coach. Brady was a game manager for years until he blossomed into the 40+ touchdown a year guy.

Confidence- madden already has it, not sure how it works, but it should factor with progression

Supporting cast- some players take time to develop, but we see them succeed because of their supporting cast. Given time, they eventually grow into something special. Troy Aikman doesn't become Troy Aikman without his supporting cast. And who knows, Jamarcus Russell could have been phenomenal had he fallen to to right system or talent around him. Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers are great examples of this as well.

Some sort of QB Vision system across the entire game without the option to change.

Re: Madden 17 wishlist

If they could please, for the love of all things holy, please do something about their atrociously sluggish menu's and clean franchise mode up so it's easier to get around, that would be great.

Follow The Show's lead. Input responses and pop-up menu's are instant. Enough with the fancy backgrounds, live wallpapers, and pictures of players/coaches all around the menu's... or whatever is causing navigation through their menu's to be so lethargic.

Obviously, this isn't near the most important thing on the list of things that need things done to them, but man would it feel great to blaze through Madden's menu's like I can in The Show.

Just my own personal vexation.
