At least we have the option to fix it this year instead of living with the poor choices.

Would it be nice if there was a more advanced ai that valued players based on age/development/overall? Sure. Is a stopgap fix in editing better than no fix? Absolutely.

Good idea OP, not sure why it needs to sparks big debate. Appreciate you sharing a good idea that we can use at our own discretion.

Some might never use it, some rarely, some a lot.

Re: Easy fix for poor CPU Draft AI!

as a 49ers fan and i run a coach mode offline cfm, if i can get 3 qbs with the skill sets ie traits i want ill draft them especially at the start. gabbert and kap aint the solution so faster i find the solution the better. and if it made the team better and more successful id take the cap hit, like oakland did with russell.

in the immortal words of an owner i didnt like but respected "just win baby"

So the CPU drafted a QB for Baltimore in the 2017 draft with the 5th pick...what? Flacco is still playing at a high level and has a huge contract. The DESPERATELY needed a WR but the CPU saw the high rated QB sitting at 5 and took him because there was only 1 QB (Flacco) on the roster.

That's stupid.

I was thinking of how to fix it (maybe create an owner and then trade him) when it occurred to me that I can turn that QB into the WR they needed. I went into player editing, changed his ratings and position and BOOM, Baltimore got the QB they needed. I also went and fixed the Browns pick (FS?!?!) to a QB.

Running a realistic 1 player CFM is a breeze thanks to player editing.
Another option is to go back to a previous save in the draft and take over a team that just made a pick that made no sense for their situation. At least for the first couple rounds.

Good idea if having that issue. I also am loving the player editing this year. My franchise has never been more fun

I like that idea better. While I do enjoy playing god sometimes, Im gonna have to draw the line at completely changing an imaginary persons DNA. What if they killed a bunch of imaginary people? Now we'll never catch them.

Thanks!

I was simply trying to share an option for those of us that like a logical/realistic first round of the draft and didn't expect a bunch of strangers to leap to conclusions and make assumptions about how I play.

It's nice to see some people take it as it was an intended, as a way to compensate for bad AI without the hassle of running a 32 team CFM.
