Link to the Game Informer Show where they are talking about their feelings on Madden 20. It's nice to see a major publication bring up some similar concerns that we see here everyday.

md 19 just added drafting improvements and got a better grade in metacritic than md 20. I dont have doubt that md 20 is a true step foward of md 19 that was a patch of md 18. All gameplay was changed in md 20

Animations OUTSIDE of tackling are really well done.
The RB go wheel routes are great especially with SPROLES.

3 things I would focus on improving via patch.

Tighten up some of the coverage issues ( some zone coverages are too loose and some man to man have defenders run the wrong way)

Cpu playcall logic at end of halves.

Tune some tackling animations, make them less WWE and need to tune xfactor defenders that cause too many sacks and fumbles.

To me that is pretty much it.

the yearly pass Madden gets. "the game has potential, or the game is headed in the right direction". Ive been hearing this for 10 plus years.

I have the PC version and I am still waiting for a fix.

the year that a Madden game seems enjoyable to me, Im unable to enjoy it because of excessive freezing and stuttering, regardless of my settings.
Ive downloaded the drivers for my card, tried all the different settings mentioned in the number of work arounds.

Whats worst I haven't seen an official acknowledgement from EA. Im about to ask for a refund. next year I will not even entertain the idea of purchasing this game. I blame myself, I should have held out, but the urge for football won out again.

call it flaming, call it what you all want- but this is beyond ridiculous for a AAA title. poor QC on their part. There is not a developer who would release a product that is not known to work on i5 pc's, unless there was a first day patch.

Ive been a member on OS since 2004, I was recently warned for being critical of Madden. Ill probably get warned again so be it, but potential consumers need to know about the pc performance issues. again this is beyond ridiculous.

edit: for the record, last years Madden runs smoothly with no freezing or stuttering. all my other titles run silky smooth also

EA Access trial almost up. The gameplay and X Factor abilities are really good in my opinion. While Franchise mode and presentation do need upgrades, for some reason it’s still just fun to do a franchisee and build your team. Maybe it’s just my itch for football coming back(I’m a saints fan) but for 45 bucks I might buy the full game.

As an NFL fan, there is no doubt that the game has moments when it is fun, but that mainly comes down to the licensing. Playing with the avatars of our favorite teams and players is the main draw of this game. It's very difficult as a lover of video games and as an NFL fanatic to watch a real life game and not want to pick up the sticks and recreate what you just saw on TV.

If you are willing to ignore the glitches and hiccups and clippping and bad late-game AI and lack of customization options and just use your imagination where the barebones presentation is lacking, you can have fun with this game.

Also it does not help to compare this game to the latest versions of the Show or NBA 2K because EA is not interested in giving users those experiences. That's because ultimately this game is designed for head-2-head play either online or in the living room with buddies. It's a tournament game, the Tekken or Street Fighter of Sports Gaming. That's not personally what I want, but that in itself is not inherently "bad" either. But since they are taking such a simplified approached to the development of the game, they really should have much much better Quality Control for the product. The Quality Control of this product is arguably the worst of all the major sports AAA titles.

I really wish they would release a "Tournament Edition" for the competitive crowd and release a "Franchise Edition" for those of us who want the full franchise experience with in depth presentation, gameplay and customization elements similar to NBA 2K and the Show.

As much as the game limps into your living room compared to other AAA titles, for the NFL/video game junkie there is a quick fix to be had here that will keep you coming back for more, even if the motivation for playing comes from your love of the real life NFL rather than the love of the video game itself.

Ya I really hope this exclusive nfl license expires so we can have a different game. Every year they say it’s going to be the year but it’s still same problem. I’ll be using $ for nba 2K.
Cmon NFL let other developers make a game

Re: Madden NFL 20 Impressions (EA Access / Launch, All Platforms)

Something really weird just happened in CFM game against the Eagles. I kicked off, they fumbled ball bounced back twelve yards and Eagles recovered. They challenged the play and it was overturned, no fumble. Now I didn't noticed what it said on first or second down but on third it was third and 48 . I dropped my coverage, had a guy with clean shot just bounce off Wentz and he completes the pass to WR for first down. If that's not bad enough tackler on WR just bounces off like nothing and he scores.

All in all a glitchy play lol.

Well said. I think that sums up how a lot of us feel about Madden. It has it's moments & the potential is there, but it seems like we've been saying that since EA took over the license...

I'm tired of having to ignore legacy issues like extreme player clipping, lacking franchise mode, bugs, lacking presentation, removal of key aspects only to add them back later (refs), etc.

Like you said I pretty much only play Madden to get my football fix because I love football. Madden is not a bad game. I appreciate the improvements to gameplay that were long overdue. It can be fun at times, it's just the immersion has been lacking for so many years that I can't even bring myself to play it once NBA 2K comes out seemingly every year...
