Well, it depends on the TV again. If it supports 720p, then you should be ok. Some people prefer 1080i to 720p, but its still decent looking. If it doesnt support 720p, the PS3 will knock it down to 480p (because it cant upscale to 1080i), while the 360 will display it at 1080i which will be a huge step down.

P.S. You dont have to buy and label a box to send your 360 back, MS sends you the coffin, all you do is package it and drop it off. Every since I got a 360 with the Falcon Chipset (over a year ago) I havent had any problems. Infact, the only lock ups I have are the fault of Madden 2009, not the system.

Thanks man. But I'm a little confused...so two questions...

Is 1080i a higher resolution than 720p?

Does ps3 run at 1080i if your tv supports 1080i?

Yes, 1080i is a higher resolution than 720p, but its interlaced, not progressive so some people prefer 720p. The Ps3 will run at 1080i if the game is written that way, and Madden isnt. Just because a TV does 1080i doesnt mean it does 720p. Especially if its an older TV. With madden, your choices on PS3 are 480p and 720p.

i prefer the ps3 version. i don't care for the 360's controller, and imo, the 360 version isn't as smooth as the ps3 version. i seem to notice more stutters in the animations when i play it on the 360.

Funny how the games EA has competition on are being made in 1080p before Madden isnt it? lol

To the OP. Why buy a new system? Just get your 360 fixed. The 360 IMO is the better all around system right now. I wouldnt spend 4 bills if I didnt have to.

Then again its easy for me to say because none of the 360's I have owned have broken down. I have owned 3. 2 Since launch.

Almost every game is 720p, but a good 1080p TV will make the game shine if it has solid textures and lighting. (Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, NHL 09, etc.)

Plus, even if they were made more games in 1080p, the quality difference isn't great but it is there.

If the source is 720p, it doesnt matter what the TV is. Now a system like the 360 can take that 720p signal and upscale it to 1080p. Its not true 1080p, but is certainly better looking than 720p. Games like Gears looks good on a 1080p TV because its being upscaled, not because of the TV doing anything magical to it. Taking a 720p and upscaling it will (obviously) look better than a straight 720p signal like you get on the PS3. I love both systems, but the fact that the PS3 doesnt have an internal scaler baffles me.
