They both play at 720P.. The 360's hardware upscales games to 1080p if your TV and connection supports it.
The PS3 does not.

I made the switch for different reasons. Got tired of the multiple breakdowns of my 360. also, I'm not a huge online gamer and I do like to put the console in my bag and take it on trips (PS3 much easier to transport as you need separate luggage for the power brick alone).
I'm just a sports gamer and mlb the show sold me on the system so those are my reasons.

I don't have a 1080p television and I just use component cables. I don't get caught up in the resolution debate because what I have now is sharper than anything that I have ever owned. I made the switch that was right for me. I'm sure you will make the decision that is right for you.

Wonder when 1080p will be in madden. I bet when the tv costs drop we will see it.

It seems most agree that overall the 360 produces better graphics in general. This is true, but when you see the visual beauty of a game like MLB 08 The Show, you think otherwise.

360 Controllers are more ergonomic IMO.

PS3 uses blu-ray.

Also, the 360 online community is much better than the PS3.

However, the PS3 blows 360 out of the water when it comes to reliability and structural integrity as it runs smoother (quieter) and is less fragile. Also, the PS3 doesn't ruin games like 360 by scratching the discs, costing even more money.

Disclosure: I own both and was a 360 fanboy for awhile, but it is just built so shoddily. I bought the PS3 because of how bad MLB2k8 was and I wanted to play The Show. Since, getting it I have been rather impressed with how much better it operates than my 3rd 360.

I have a 46" Samsung DLP and had madden for 360....my 360 died and had to be sent out so I bought madden for PS3.

I can tell you for sure that the 360 version def. looks better, smoother, crisper and more vibrant.

Once I got my 360 back - the PS3 version was traded in towards something else.

Probably next year.

FIFA 09 supports 1080p this year for the PS3 so it looks like EA titles should all be shifting toward it hopefully.

Generally, I find 360 games to be too vibrant. Surreal almost. I thought the same about the original XBox vs the PS2.

Sweet! I sold my 360 not too long ago. I'm strongly considering a PS3. FIFA & NBA 2K would probably be the only games I buy until Madden '10, if they address some key issues of course.

So it sounds like, at 1080i, there is no difference?

I'm annoyed at the prospect of having to go buy a box, label it, package my xbox360 in it, take it to the post office, ship it, and wait umpteen days for it's return. Are there any retail stores that will fix it for me?
