Define "built from the ground up."

My interpretation of the phrase is they started completely from scratch to make this game. I think the issues you are having have nothing to do with the game being a port. In fact, I dont think its a port. The reason why there are things that look identical to current gen madden is due to the fact that its the same game maker. If VC scrapped ESPN football..and built a new game..you could probably bet it would still look a lot like ESPN football simply because its the same game maker.

Or say if you cook dinner..you throw out what you started cooking..and then cook the same thing over again..it will probably taste the same because you didnt change the cook.

Yeah but the thing is that ppl take this phrase out of proportion. I wouldn't mind a port with these graphics b/c it plays so damn good with the right sliders and roster adjustments. There I said it but if they don't change something by next year then I feel we should then boycott or something.

"Built from the ground up:" The base code is written to support the new hardware. This includes physics, some logic, etc. The graphics engine is rewritten to take advantage of a new GPU. Event dependent functions such as animations, sound, and graphics are rewritten to take advantage of the multi-core processor.

Madden 06 360 is optimized to run on the new PowerPC processor, but only taking advantage of the faster clock speed and faster memory. Madden 07 360 will be tweaked to take advantage of the mutiple cores and dual threads.

It's not a port, but some of the older code is being used in the new engine. All the older animations are present in the new game, with the addition of many more.

I agree. Does anyone else feel this way. I somehow feel slighted by having to see any of the current gen animations in a next gen game. Im glad they added new ones but I wouldve preferred that they completely scrapped the old animations..reminace..remember the days when the old animations would wow us..put them to rest and then move on to the future..to the next generation in gaming..but to bring animations from 2000 forward..I dunno. It just doesnt sit right with me.
