pay off for consumers?
you mean by giving us a lesser game instead of adding the great graphics to an established engine that was fine for what this is, a football game? They decided to start fresh, with the same developers, and still takes 3 years to not even get close to the quality of the ps2 game. It's an okay game, but not when you compare it to even last year's version on the ps2.
I can see the new engine paying off if they were making a new physics engine to go along with it, but it's still animations with the gang tackling added in now...something they could have had on the ps2. We were still wowed by madden after 3 years on the ps2. Now we're debating why the game isn't even as good as it is on the ps2 now.
