I"m sure I will get crucified for this, but it's good to see that Madden is FINALLY adding in things that were available in the NFL2K series back on the last-gen consoles. It seems that the new Madden exec prod. realizes that Madden sales have been dipping tremendously in the last 3 years, and that "gimmicks, bells & whistles", along with an NFL exclusive deal won't sell the game anymore but GAMEPLAY WILL! *thumbs up* I'm still very cynical as to how this game will turn out, but it appears the game is heading in the right direction.

This has been addressed in the WR/DB Interaction blog. Certainly, you didn't miss it, correct?

I would like to see better D LINE get some realisitic pressure and swim moves / O-LINE play , pass protecting and run blocking instead of the garbage we have been seeing over the years. I would like to see better catch animations again relevant to the situation ie wide open, double team, 1 on 1, up high, jumping, low... I would like to see better throwing animations from qb's, ...
The battle in the trenches has not yet been talked about, but most folks around here are pretty confident that it will be addressed this year. Though pass protecting hasn't been talked about in great detail, Ian did mention that slowing down the QB drop animation would go a ways into helping produce a pocket for the QB.

Obviously, there hasn't been too much talked about yet. But two of your concerns have been touched on in these "meaningless blogs". That's part of the reason why I don't think you should write them off as such.

I don't think we should take it easy on Ian, but some of the vibes I get from some posts just seem unappreciative. It wasn't too long ago most of us were truly HOPING to speak to developers of Madden. Also I think some of us just need to really practice patienence and realize this is definitely the earliest we've ever gotten real information on Madden. I hope this game really marks the turn around for the Madden series on next gen.

Guillotine already pre-ordered his copy and I'm leaning heavily on purchasing the game this year after seeing the communities response (even though I promised myself never again).
Hey guy, I wasn't directing the post to you or Guillotine, and if you did, then my fault. The person I was responding to was saying he didn't want people to defend Ian. And all I was saying is that Ian and the crew really doesn't have to do what they're doing as far as taking our feedback. I think it's obvious that they really are trying to listen to our concerns. I do understand where people may be guarded, considering what promises have been made in the past and not fufilled (say hello David Ortiz), but let's just wait and see.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: Player Momentum

The one issue I see with this is that WRs often run full speed and then cut at 90 degrees towards the sideline. Fox Sports 'sports science' did a show on this where they measured how Chad Johnson could stop his full momentum in 1 or 2 steps.

This gets to the issue of how the running game does not feature enough cutting -- and I'm not talking about jukes, just cuts. That problem was avoided by 2k because they had the tapping speed burst method, which allowed a more varied feel to the running game. I'm worried that using these larger turning radii alongside the speed burst trigger, Madden will amplify the sensation of controlling a car with a pedal instead of a football player.

Deceleration is just as important as accleration, and with the trigger there's not a good way to replicate the quick deceleration that occurs when cutting because the trigger is too clunky and pedal like. It's like with Madden we need a brake pedal too.

WHO GIVES THE **** THEIR ABOUT 20 MORE PROBLEMS IN MADDEN THEN MAKING CUTS. LETS FOCUS ON THE OLINE BLOCKING AND THE TERRIBLE FRANCHISE MODE.AND ESPN BROADCASTING. MADDEN HAS TO DO MORE BUT THEIR MAKING SOME PROGRESS SO FAR.
