I know I've had my fair share of 400 yard passing games with J.T O'Sullivan in my time.

In my opinion, the best time QB awareness was every shown was when we had the QB vision cone back in the older maddens. Personally I liked it but I really didn't like how they implemented it. There were just too many buttons you had to push and it usually threw off my timing with the receivers which inevitably meant my controller was going airborne.

This made me wonder if they made the controls simpler would the vision cone be worth bringing back? With the original vision cone you had to lock onto a particular season pre-snap. Then once you hiked the ball you had to either move the right stick to highlight receiver or hit a button AND the receivers button to move the cone in order to throw it to him without having an inaccurate pass. For me it was just way to much to figure out while trying to not get blasted by the oncoming pass rush.

So what if they simplified the controls? If you took out having to move the cone yourself and instead the computer did if for you it would totally change the way the passing game is in this game.

Say I'm keyed on Greg Jennings the right side at the snap. Then right after the snap wanted to go the Donald Driver on the left side. Instead of me manually moving the cone, all I have to do is hit Drivers button and the cone will move itself before throwing the ball. Once the cone has moved to highlight Driver then Rodgers will begin his delivery. Hopefully this is making sense haha.

This would add such a great dimension to the passing game. Great quarterbacks would be able to quickly look over and hit any open receiver in stride. While bad quarterbacks would take time to highlight their targets which might disrupt the timing of the route causing more incomplete passes or interceptions. It would also add the ability to look off defenders which I've been dying to have in this game for a long time.

So let me know what you guys think. In my opinion it would really change the way the passing game works in this game. It's too easy for us to survey the field and throw all over the place for 400 yards a game with any quarterback there is. If done correctly gone would be the days of J.T. O'Sullivan going off on the Steelers D. It would lower the scores as the 80 yard bombs wouldn't be so automatic and would make a 300 yard 4 TD passing game feel like an accomplishment for the first time in years.
I might not be getting your post completely but you could also switch your reciever but holding the pump fake button and pressing the receiver icon. what i used to do on pass plays was stare down the safety by not having a primary reciever at the snap and then go through the progression. They could probly have the cone or something to differentiate what receiver you're looking at but I doubt that would be in M11.

I'd love to see the return of a cone mechanic. I loved the cone. I turned it on when the option was available.

I'd love to see something like this implemented.

Aside from pushing one less simultaneous button I don't see much of a difference between your suggestion and the system that was already in place.

I didn't mind how it was implemented. When I was dropping back I just always had r2 pushed in so I could just hit the button of the WR I was looking at.

The only part I didn't like about it was for quick routes. When there are 2 or more routes coming across the middle, I didn't think I should have to key in on one WR to get an accurate throw (I wasn't using Peyton Manning). I know that was the point of the cone but I think that was a little too difficult, even for the backups of the world.

With the positives come the negatives, obviously.

Perhaps they could split it: you could have individual control or "zone control" where you look at a section of the field. Zone control is some sort of simplified scheme and individual is RT/R2 + Buttons or right stick.

I like your way of executing the vision cone (original poster)

BUT... I don't see a vision cone on Sunday, so yeh...

Re: My New Vision Cone Idea. What do you guys think?

The cone was a cool idea for distinguishing the good QBs from the bad, but I think even the original posters idea is too clunky for it to be well implemented. I don't mean to say that it was a bad idea, but that separation to a point by the new short, mid and deep accuracy ratings.

I guess if M11 is nearly flawless, then I would look to fidget with adding something like this back in - but only if they give me back legacy gen controls!!!!!

I agree with you.

THe vision cone was a neat idea, and as I mentioned earlier, I didn't mind it. It pretty much visually displayed the differences between the quarterback.

But to me, in the end it was too much. Ideally, I would like the ratings of each quarterback to somehow simulate this so I didn't have to visually see it or do to much when I drop back.

Re: My New Vision Cone Idea. What do you guys think?

I liked the idea of limiting the icons shown on recievers after the snap based on the QB's awareness. Low AWR QB's only have a couple of options open whereas experienced QB's have more. Maybe as the play develops more WR icons pop up.
