I am hoping the wait will be well worth it. Still seeing a lot about Madden 12 to enjoy in the meantime.
Rather than bother with responding to some of the more overdramatic gentlemen in this thread, I'll just say that I agree with this post.

Re: Bad Move to scrap Extra Point/Halftime Show

Heres my feeling.

Sports games should try and capture as much of the television broadcast experience as possible because it's how we all watch sports on TV(albeit going to a stadium-which stadium entrances are where those are seen the most).

You have broadcasters for commentary, you have cameras that pan in and out on the action, you have replay you have play by play analysis and you have pregame halftime and post game shows as well as well timeouts and of course lulls in gameplay.

Madden 12 does EVERYTHING except the pregame halftime and post game shows. NFL 2k5 did it and Madden 10/11 I think tried 'introducing it' back, but it was to dramatic for its own good and felt "tacked on

What you want is a happy medium and i think madden 12 has that and i feel it has nothing tacked on that needs updating. of course unless the broadcast stuff gets real old fast that you see the same qb timeout and huddle stuff time after time.

We won't know til the full game though if all this broadcast stuff will be repetitive and thats what maybe worries me the most.

Having tacked on halftime show one like in years previous I'd get irritated with.

Whats amazing is that EA really doesn't have to do very much to make a decent halftime show. Use the highlight engine that they already have, hire an actor, and have him do the commentary corresponding to the highlights.

The end.

Thing is, they don't want to make a "just decent" halftime show. Just decent gets old real, real fast and the same people complaining about them not having one at all will complain about how bland it is (and how "it took 6 years of this generation to give us THIS?!?")

I'm sure that their goal is to far outdo the overrated halftime show of a certain last gen game and if it takes them an extra year to do so I'm confident that it will turn out great thanks to the great strides they appear to have made in franchise and broadcast presentation (visually)

I agree why are we making excuses to why something as basic as a halftime show that was done in 2005, and on prior consoles to take something out and replace it with highlights and its the SAME animations over and over again.

They removed it due to lack of interest. I think they realize that they want to go another direction and (this part is my opinion) why use up disc space on something that gets skipped by the vast majority of users.

I'd like to have something to watch during my halftime smoke break, 2K5 was nice man stats of the 1st half, clips of big plays from other teams playing during your game, damn that stuff was money. "never know what your missing till u no longer have it"

Actually, I saw a quote from an interview at E3. They said they weren't happy with Extra Point, so, they gutted it out and will work on it next year.

I'll try to find the quote.
