wow. That is a joke. I thought this problem could be solved just by cutting the fake UDFAs in the preseason. EA seriously needs to make the FA pool bigger. Expanding the roster size but not allowing for more free agents is inexcusable.

So annoying that I have to edit player's ratings myself to get them signed to teams. Everette Brown led the NFL with 20.5 sacks, was left in the free agent pool as a 74 overall after that, so I had to bump him up mainly using Awareness so that he would be above an 80 so he would be signed. Had to do the same with a rookie QB and Tony Romo.

I too am irritated with this all. I tried yesterday to sim an off-season and do the draft/cut days to try to elminate the fake players to get real rookies from NCAA on the teams and it took me hours I finally just gave up. I'm still hoping the Week 1 roster update helps elminate the problem.

you do realize the week 1 update is only going to have about 55 players and the rest will immediately be filled with these guys when you start franchise right?

Except...did it happen because the owner has a cheap personality? Or is it strictly because of the AI and their inability to decipher the system EA put in place?

Do we know this for sure? I've not seen anything about it. Since they've made such a big deal about expanded rosters and cut-down days, it would make more sense for the rosters to include not just the final group, but also the players who were with a team during training camp (unless they've ended up with another team). Cuts were made that not all of us agree with, since the game starts week 1 of the preseason, we should have the option of having all of the cut players at our disposal so we can choose who ends up on our opening day roster. That would also allow the FA pool to include players that would otherwise go missing since the size of the pool is too small to include all of the players who got cut. The reduction in the number of fake UDFA's would be an additional benefit of structuring the rosters that way.

The update shouldn't be about reducing the roster sizes, it should be about accounting for player movement and the inclusion of players previously missing.

In Madden, all the owners are cheapskates.

Donny is only keeping the players that made the final cut and any players on IR for the Week 1 update.

The free agent wire holds approx. 280+ players. NFL teams at 90 players now (we support 75). Must cut down to 53 per team, plus IR guys.
